Východiska: Článek se zabývá fungováním interdisciplinárního týmu v Hospice of Western Kentucky v USA. Cíl: Cílem je popsat fungování tohoto týmu v hospici a v jeho zařízení Heartford House.Metody: Článek uvádí výsledky z polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s vybranými členy týmu. Rozhovor byl zaměřen na oblast náplně práce a roli členů týmu, komunikaci, aktivity týmu, zaměřené proti syndromu vyhoření, řešení konfliktů, motivaci, řízení organizace a důležité prvky ve fungování interdisciplinárního týmu. Výsledky: Ve výsledcích výzkumného šetření z USA se ukázalo, že významnou roli ve fungování tamního týmu je komunikace, spolupráce, jasné rozdělení rolí, samostatnost pracovníků, společný cíl a celkově rodinná atmosféra spojená s dobrým řízením těchto týmů. Diskuse: Kritéria pro fungující týmovou práci popsané v literatuře se tedy v týmu HWK ukázaly jako splněné. Výsledky z výzkumného šetření se nezdají být příliš překvapivé, spíše potvrzují, že existence těchto prvků uvnitř týmu popsaných v literatuře, pomáhá v jeho fungování a popisuje konkrétní způsob fungování týmu v HWK. Závěr: Interdisciplinární tým je v případě dobrého fungování velmi efektivním nástrojem k dosahování cíle. Z výsledků můžeme říci, že sestavení týmů je téměř shodné s týmy v ČR a role jednotlivých členů se také příliš neliší.

Background: The article deals with the functioning of an interdisciplinary team at the Hospice of Western Kentucky in the USA.Aim: The aim is to describe the functioning of this team in the hospice and its Heartford House facility. Methods: The article presents the results of semi-structured interviews with selected team members. The interview focused on the scope of work and the role of team members, communication, team activities against burnout, conflict resolution, motivation, organizational management and essential elements in the functioning of the interdisciplinary team. Results: The results of a research survey from the USA showed that an essential role in the functioning of the team is communication, cooperation, clear division of roles, independence of employees, a common goal and overall family atmosphere associated with good management of these teams. Discussion: The criteria for functioning teamwork described in the literature thus proved to be met in the HWK team. The results of the research do not seem to be very surprising, but rather confirm that the existence of these elements within the team described in the literature, helps in its functioning and describes the specific way the team works in HWK. Conclusion: An interdisciplinary team is a handy tool for achieving a goal if it works well. We can say that the composition of the teams is almost identical to the teams in the Czech Republic, and the roles of individual members also do not differ much.
