Optimalizace výživy spočívá v hledání souladu mezi reálnými potřebami organismu a skutečnou nutriční hodnotou přijímané potravy. Jedná se o obtížný a velmi složitý problém, především z hlediska množství faktorů, které je třeba vzít v úvahu. Odborníci i laici jsou odkázáni na dílČí výpočty a empiricky podložené odhady. Komplexní výpočty nejsou reálně proveditelné bez použití výpočetní techniky. Z těchto důvodů byl na našem pracovišti vyvinut softwarový prostředek automatizující nezbytné výpočty a provádějící potřebná porovnání. Program zahrnuje základní databázi obsahující informace o nutričním složení základních součástí potravy a běžných složených pokrmů. Součástí programu je procedura pro výpočet nutričních požadavků konkrétního jedince a procedura porovnávající skutečný příjem jednotlivých složek výživy s optimální potřebou daného jedince. Program umožní kontrolu a modifikaci použitých vztahů a tabelárně zadaných údajů a individálni rozšiřování databáze složených jídel.

The process of assessment of a balanced intake of nutrition is based on the search for harmony between the individual requirements and real food consumption. This procedure is complicated mainly doe to the extensive number of factors, which should be taken into account Both, the specialists in nutrition science and the laymen, are often left to partial calculations and empirically based estimations. The full and complex solution of these problems is not practically feasible unless the computer equipped with adequate software is applied Based on this consideration, the software tool for automatic calculation of the nutritional content of food, calculation of individual requirements and necessary comparisons, was developed in our laboratory. The program includes basic database with information on nutritional content of basic components of food as well as information on nuti-itional content of customary dishes. The procedure of calculation of individual nutritional requirements and the procedure of comparisons of the requirements with the real consumption are also parts of the program. The examination and modification of the applied formulas, databases and procedures for specialists on the field of nutritional science is possible. The development of the individual databases of nutritional content of foods and dishes is also possible.
