Autoři pilotní studie zaměřené na stanovení leukotrienů v kondenzátu vydechovaného vzduchu (KVV) u nemocných astmatem, respektive chronickou obstrukční plicní nemocí (CHOPN) předkládají první vlastní poznatky získané za použití analytické metody plynové chromatografie a hmotnostní spektrometrie (GC-MS). Cílem studie bylo porovnání nálezů leukotrienů B4 a leukotrienů cysteinylových u zdravých a nemocných, a tím prokázat zánět sliznice dýchacích cest. Prvním a základním poznatkem je průkaz schopnosti stanovit leukotrieny v KVV v našich podmínkách a použít jejich nález k doložení zánětu sliznice dýchacích cest. Další zjištění, jakkoli vyznívají slibně, budou nesporně vyžadovat další práce a dílčí získané výsledky potvrzení na souborech s větším množstvím vyšetřovaných subjektů.

Authors of the pilot study presented the first own findings about leukotrienes in breath condensate measured by means of analytical method GC-MS in patients with asthma and COPD. The study was designed with aim to compare the findings of leukotrienes B4 and cysteinyl leukotrienes in healthy subjects with patients suffering from asthma and COPD and to answer the question whether is it possible to reveal the inflammation of lower airways. Apart from the positive character of further results the next study will be necessary to confirm the outcomes with higher number of subjects.
