V poslednom období vzrastajú medzi dospievajúcou mládežou otravy rastlinami, medzi ktorými zvláštne miesto zaujíma durman obyčajný (Datura stramonium). Autori analyzujú jeho účinky na ľudský organismus a dokumentujú ich vlastnými skúsenosťami. Otrava durmanom obyčajným sa klinicky prejavuje ako otrava atropínom a vyvoláva halucinácie. Prognóza tejto otravy je väčšinou dobrá, príznaky odoznievajú do 12–24 hodín, mydriáza môže pretrvávať ešte niekoľko hodín. Po odznení príznakov pretrváva amnézia na obdobie halucinácií.

In the last years there is increasing number of plant poisoning in teenagers. The poisoning with Datura stramonium belongs among intoxications. The authors review its effects in human and describe their own experiences. The clinical picture of poisoning with Datura stramonium is identical to atropine intoxication including hallucinations. The prognosis is usually good. The symptoms disappear within 12–24 hours but mydriasis can last several days. After disappearing of symptoms there is amnesia on hallucination period.
