Tuberkulóza na Slovensku zaznamenala svoj nepriaznivý vrchol na začiatku 20. storočia. Významnú zmenu situácie v jej kontrole prináša až obdobie po 2. svetovej vojne. Komplex opatrení, ktoré sa realizovali v rokoch 1948-1955, ovplyvnili jednoznačne v pozitívnom zmysle vývoj epidemiologických ukazovateľov tuberkulózy na Slovensku. V konfrontácii s ostatnými krajinami strednej a východnej Európy hodnotí WHO jej vývoj pozitívne a zaraduje Slovensko na popredné miesto v tejto oblasti. V perspektívnom vývoji bude potrebné aj naďalej zabezpečoval náš program kontroly tuberkulózy na jednotlivých úsekoch, najmä prevencie a liečby, v intenciách WHO v súčasných zmenených podmienkach.

Tuberculosis in Slovakia has noted its unfavorable culmination on the beginning of the 20th century. Significant change of the situation in its control brings the period after the second World War. Complex of the measures realized during the years 1948-1955, stimulated in the positive sense, the development of epidemiological aspects of tuberculosis in Slovakia. In the confrontation with other countries of middle and east Europe, evaluates WHO the development as very positive and sets Slovakia on the leading place in this region. In the perspective aspect of the development, it will be neded further to settle our programme of control of the tuberculosis in the separate sections, first of all, in the prevention and therapy in the intentions of WHO, in the contemporary changes conditions.
