Autor definuje odstálý boltec, popisuje vyšetření nemocného před operací, zvláštnosti dětského a dospělého věku. V práci jsou shrnuty cíle otoplastiky. Operační techniky jsou podány v historickém přehledu, operační technika podle Mustardého a Furnase je popsána „step by step“. Autor operoval v letech 1994 - 2001 u 109 nemocných 216 boltců. U čtyř nemocných provedl jednostrannou otoplastiku. Otoplastika byla nejčastěji prováděna mezi pátým až sedmým rokem života. Mezi operovanými mírně převládaly ženy - 59,6 %. Věkový průměr nemocných byl 10,4 let. V celkové anestezii bylo operováno 60,6%nemocných, nejstaršímu bylo 14 let. Nejmladšímu nemocnému, který podstoupil výkon v lokální anestezii, bylo 7 let. Pro neuspokojivý kosmetický výsledek operace byli čtyři nemocní reoperováni - vždy jednostranně. Jednalo se tedy o 3,8 % nemocných. V souladu s literárními údaji je možno považovat metodu podle Mustardého a Furnase za techniku, jejíž pooperační výsledky jsou přijatelné. Je rychlá a snadná k naučení. Absence nářezů minimalizuje nerovnosti chrupavky boltce, stehy modelující chrupavku nejsou viditelné. Suturou kůže vstřebatelným materiálem odpadá nutnost odstraňování stehů, což je výhodné zvláště u dětí. Reoperace je snadná.

The author defines the term prominent ear. Describes an examination of the patient before operation, differences between children and adult patients. Goals of otoplasty are summed up in this paper. Surgical techniques are explained in the historical survey, the surgical technique according to Mustardé and Furnas is described step by step. The author operated 216 ears in 109 patients (1994 - 2001), one-side otoplasty in 4 patients. Otoplasty was most often practised in the age group up 5 and under 7 years. There were more females (59.6%) in the study group. The average age was 10.4. 60.6% of the patients were operated in general anaesthesia, the oldest patient was 14 years old.The youngest patient operated under local anaesthesia was7 years old.Because of unsatisfactory postoperative results 4 patients were reoperated - only on one side. That represents 3.8% of the patients. Postoperative bleeding was registered in 3 patients (2.8% of the patients). Suppuration and a minor skin necrosis occurred in another 2 patients. These 2 complications account for 1.8% of the all operated patients. Conforming to the to literature resources the surgical technique according to Mustardé and Furnas has outstanding results. The technique is rapid and easy to learn. No cartilage incisions or excisions are needed, thus minimizing the potential for sharp edges. Sutures modelling cartilage are not visible.A skin suture using absorbable materials is especially well accepted by child patients. Reoperation is easy.
