Autoři seznamují stručnou formou se zobrazovacími možnostmi optické koherentní tomografie, která představuje další významný krok při zobrazení jednotlivých struktur cévní stěny a zhodnocení patologických procesů, které zde probíhají. Jde zejména o detekci a hodnocení aterosklerotických plátů a následně i o posouzení úspěšnosti léčby věnčitých tepen.
The authors concisely discuss the imaging potential of optical coherence tomography as another major advance in imaging individual structures of the vessel wall and assessing the pathological processes that occur there, particularly for the detection and evaluation of atherosclerotic plaques and, subsequently, for assessing the outcome of treatment of coronary arteries.
