Pilotní projekt "umíme chránit děti před úrazy?" proběhl v mateřských školách a mateřských centrech v Brně v roce 2008. Jednalo se o preventivně-úrazový projekt zaměřený na vzdělávání rodičů v ochraně dětí před úrazy a v poskytnutí první pomoci u dětí. Informace byly rodičům předávány formou přednášek a brožur. Projekt sledoval nejen cíl preventivní, ale i cíl výzkumný. V následném dotazníkovém šetření byla zhodnocena efektivita tohoto aktivního přístupu ke vzdělávání rodičů v prevenci dětských úrazů a první pomoci, byly analyzovány postoje rodičů k ochraně dětí před úrazy a informační zdroje, ze kterých rodiče čerpají znalosti k této tematice, včetně úrovně znalostí první pomoci. Zkušenosti z projektu ukazují na velmi malý spontánní zájem rodičů o tuto tematiku, nicméně rodiče, kteří se přednášek zúčastnili, hodnotili jejich přínos velice pozitivně a v dotazníkovém šetření vyjádřili zájem o další vzdělávání. Nejvýraznější efekt projektu byl prokázán u zlepšení znalostí první pomoci, nejnižší na zabezpečení domácností, což však bylo zřejmě ovlivněno poměrně krátkým hodnotícím intervalem. Nejvýznamnějším přínosem projektu je bezesporu upozornění rodičů na možnost aktivně předcházet dětským úrazům a ovlivnění jejich postojů k otázkám bezpečnosti dětí.

The pilot project "Are we able to protect children from injuries?" was implemented in 2008 in kindergartens and centres for mothers in Brno. This was a project concerning prevention of injuries, focused on the education of parents in the field of the protection of children from injuries and providing the first aid in children. The parents were informed by the form of lectures and brochures. The project considered not only the preventive targets but also the research ones. In a questionnaire examination, the efficacy of this active approach to the education of parents in the field of the prevention of children injuries and of the first aid was evaluated, and attitudes of parents to the protection of children from injuries and information sources of parents aimed at these topics were analyzed including the level of knowledge of the first aid. The experience from the project indicates an only low spontaneous interest of parents in this topic, but parents, who participated in the lectures, appreciated very positively their contribution and they expressed their interest in further education in the questionnaires. The most considerable effect of the project was demonstrated in the improvement of knowledge of the first aid, the smallest effect being in the field of securing households, which was, however, obviously affected by a rather short interval for the evaluation. The most important benefit resulting from the project is undoubtedly making the parents aware that they can actively prevent children injuries and affecting their attitude to problems of the safety of children.
