Inkontinence stolice mylně pokládaná za diabetický průjem

Pacientka s diabetes mellitus v anamnéze byla po mozkové příhodě hospitalizována a vyšetřována pro několik roků trvající průjem. Vyšetřeními se jasnou příčinu objevit nepodařilo. Zprvu bylo podezření, že průjem způsobuje terapie biguanidy. Přes jejich vysazení však obtíže trvaly dál. Při další hospitalizaci se podrobným rozborem anamnézy zjistilo, že nemocnou udávané časté stolice nejsou průjmem ale inkontinencí stolice.

A female patient with a history of diabetes mellitus was hospitalized for stroke and examined for several years lasting diarrhea. The examinations did not reveal any evident cause. Firstly, the treatment with biguanids was a suspected cause of diarrhea. Despite the discontinuation of biguanids the problem persisted. During the second hospitalization the patient's history was carefully analyzed and it was found out that the frequent defecations reported by the patient as a diarrhea were symptoms of a fecal incontinence.
