Bariatrická chirurgie je jedním z nejefektivnějších postupů v léčbě diabetu 2. typu. Je schopna navodit remisi diabetu až v 90 % případů. Přesto však může tato metoda selhávat u části pacientů zejména nespolupracujících či pacientů s delším trváním diabetu. Diabetiků je k výkonům u nás bohužel indikováno stále málo a nejvhodnějším řešením situace je co nejčasnější a častější odesílání diabetiků k posouzení do specializovaných center.

Bariatric surgery is one of the most efficient procedures in treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It can bring about remission of diabetes in up to 90% of the cases, but even in spite of that, it can fail, especially in non-compliant patients and/ or patients who have suffered from diabetes for a long time. Unfortunately there is still not enough diabetic patients being indicated for the procedure in our country. The best solution for the situation is sending the patients for evaluation in specialised centres as early and as often as possible.
