Příspěvek reflektuje metodické pozadí problému infanticidy, které velmi často zůstává skryto jak zastáncům tak i odpůrcům legitimity zabíjení dětí. Diskuze se ve většině případů orientuje podle empirických dat, jejichž interpretace se ovšem u zastánců protikladných stanovisek liší. Autor se snaží ukázat, že empirický přístup k problému je nejen nedostatečný, ale dokonce i rozporný. V příspěvku se předkládá návrh řešení, které tuto neuspokojivou situaci řešé. The article deals with methodical background of the problem of infanticide. The autor dedicates his reflections to the methodical approach of empirical sciences and compares it with the methodical approach of philosophy. He shows that the problem of infanticide containes various questions which cannot be answered from an empirical perspective. Some of these questions are mentioned and the discussion of them leads to the conclusion that only philosophy is a competent mean of their clarification. It concernes namely the question of the truth of our knowledge, of the definition of the identity of man and of the relation between ontological determinations of humanity and personal dimension of human being.
