Laserová léčba je ve své podstatě empirickou, destruktivní, mutilující metodou a její léčebné principy, ale i účinky jsou stále ve sférách předpokladů a dohadů. Přesto i po více než 60 letech zůstává zlatým standardem v terapii diabetické retinopatie. Článek mapuje historický vývoj i minulé a současné studie a postupy léčby diabetické retinopatie a diabetického makulárního edému laserem.

Laser treatment is basically empirical, destructive, mutilating method and its therapeutic principles and effects are still in the spheres of speculation and assumptions. Even after more than 60 years, it remains the gold standard in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy. The article discusses the historical development, as well as past and current studies and procedures for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema by laser.
