Syndrom obstrukční spánkové apnoe je v populaci diabetiků 2. typu vysoce prevalentní onemocnění, které významně zvyšuje riziko kardiovaskulárních onemocnění a zhoršuje kvalitu života. Většina pacientů s tímto onemocněním zůstává nediagnostikována, a proto je vhodné spánkovou apnoe v této populaci aktivně vyhledávat a léčit. V tomto příspěvku prezentujeme kazuistiky tří pacientů s diabetes mellitus 2. typu, jejichž onemocnění obstrukční spánkovou apnoe bylo zjištěno díky aktivnímu screeningu, přestože si pacienti na typické obtíže spojené s tímto onemocněním spontánně nestěžovali.

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) is highly prevalent in the population of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Untreated OSA significantly increases cardiovascular risk and worsens quality of life. The majority of patients with OSA remains undiagnosed and therefore it is justified to actively screen patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus for the presence of OSA. This article presents three case reports of patients who were diagnosed with OSA and who received treatment as a result of the screening even though they were not spontaneously reporting typical OSA symptoms.
