Prevalenia HCH u ľudí je približne 5 chorých na 100000. Táto choroba stále patrí k nevyliečiteľným chorobám a pacienti netrpezlivo oča-kávajú každú novú správu o napredovaní možnej liečby. Veľká nádej sa vkladá do génovej terapie. Výsledky našej štúdie dávajú pozitívne správy. Na základe týchto výsledkov Holandská firma UniQure podala návrh klinickej štúdie na FDA (food and drug administration) a táto organizácia jej klinickú štúdiu schválila.
The prevalence of Huntington's disease (HD) is approximately 5 patients per 100,000 people. HD is still an incurable disease and patients are eagerly awaiting for any new treatment progress reports. Great hope is put into gene therapy. Our preclinical study of AAV5-miHTT lowering using trangenic minipigs for HD brought positive results. Based on these results, the Dutch company UniQure submitted a clinical study proposal to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), which was positively proved for the first and second phase of the clinical trial.
