Náklady na psychiatrickou péči odrážejí psychiatrickou, psychologickou a psychoterapeutickou péči poskytovanou všemi segmenty systému, tj. ambulantní, akutní lůžkovou a následnou lůžkovou péči. Zdravotní pojišťovny hradí v rámci ambulantní péče vlastní služby poskytované pacientům a léčivé přípravky předepsané na recept. Náklady zdravotních pojišťoven však nejsou konečnými náklady, které do psychiatrické péče směřují. V současnosti neexistuje evidence o konzumovaných službách, především psychoterapii, které si pacienti hradí přímo. Další přímé náklady pacientů směřují do nákupu volně prodejných přípravků, které slouží ke zmírnění různých typů psychických problémů. Celkové náklady zdravotních pojišťoven vynaložené na psychiatrickou péči činily v roce 2020 cca 16 miliard Kč, přičemž největší podíl finančních prostředků plyne poskytovatelům následné péče (7 mld. Kč). Za léčivé přípravky zdravotní pojišťovny zaplatily cca 3 mld. Kč. V rámci postupných změn souvisejících s reformou psychiatrické péče bude docházet ke změnám poměru vynaložených finančních prostředků na jednotlivé oblasti. Aktuálně lze konstatovat, že k nárůstu dochází ve všech segmentech, v žádném případě však nedochází k přesouvání financí na úkor jiné oblasti. Nejvyšší nárůst zaznamenal segment ambulantní psychiatrické péče, který ve srovnání s rokem 2017 narostl o 44 %.

Currently, it can be stated that, there is an increase in all segments, but in no case is there shifting of funding to the detriment of any other area. Highest increase has been recorded in the outpatient segment psychiatric care, with the largest increase in the outpatient sector compared to the previous year 2017 increased by 44%.
