Poměr volný/celkový prostatický specifický antigen (f/t PSA) je u pacientů s karcinomem prostaty signifikantně nižší, než u pacientů s benigní hyperplazií prostaty. Stanovení tohoto poměru zvyšuje specifitu prostatického specifického antigenu pro detekci karcinomu prostaty. Autoři na souboru 95 pacientů zhodnotili vliv sérové koncentrace celkového prostatického specifického antigenu (PSA), prostatického objemu a věku pacienta na poměr f/t PSA. Prokázali statisticky významnou závislost mezi hodnotou PSA a poměrem f/t PSA.
The free/total prostate specific antigen ratio (f/t PSA) is significantly Iower in patients with carcinoma of the prostate cancer when compared to patients with benign hyperplasia of the prostate. Determination of this ratio increases the specificity of the prostate specific antigen for prostate cancer detection. In a group of 95 patients the authors evaluated the influence of the total prostate icific antigen (PSA) serum concentration, the volume of the prostate and the age of the patient, on the f/t PSA ratio. They demonstrated a statistically significant relation between the PSA levels and the f/t PSA ratio.
