V první části článku autorka představuje kurz Advanced trauma life support (ATLS®) v České republice – jeho zavedení, základní cíle, financování a základní statistická data kurzů dosud proběhlých na území České republiky. Ve druhé části článku se soustředí na validitu ATLS a jeho význam pro postgraduální vzdělávání lékařů a pro přežití pacienta po závažném traumatu. Absolvování ATLS signifikantně zlepšuje znalosti a klinické dovednosti účastníků, jejich organizační schopnosti i přístup k prioritám při péči o těžce zraněného pacienta. Uvedená skutečnost je jednoznačným důvodem, proč je ATLS zařazen do vzdělávacího programu specializační zkoušky v urgentní medicíně.
In the first part of the article the author describes the Advanced trauma life support (ATLS®) course in Czech Republic – its introduction, basic goals, funding and basic statistical data of the courses past in the Czech Republic. The second part of the article concentrates on validation of ATLS and its importance for outcome of the patient who suffered serious injury. ATLS training significantly increases knowledge and improves practical skills and the critical decision making process in managing multiple trauma patients. Given in the fact is clear reason why ATLS is a part of educational curriculum of Emergency Medicine.
