INTRODUCTION: The diabetes mellitus is risk factor for urologic surgery. The best prevention of complications is excellent compensation of diabetes, appropriated management of anesthesia and good post surgery care. The diabetes is etiologic risk factor many urologic diseases including malignant. UROLOGIC SURGERY: The diabetes is intensively evaluated in uro-oncology and it seems that renal cell carcinoma and bladder cancer incidence is higher in diabetic patients. The link between prostate cancer and diabetes is not clear, yet. The behavior of this cancer is more aggressive and it has worse prognosis. The diabetes is risk etiologic factor for urolithiasis and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Immunodeficiency combined with diabetes has negative impact for urinary tract infection including most serious as emphysematous pyelonephritis or Fournier gangrene external genitalia. CONCLUSION: The accurate compensation of the diabetes is basic condition good results of urologic surgery in diabetics. The diabetes mellitus and obesity will be evaluated as risk factors many diseases of kidneys and whole urologic apparatus especially malignant.

As life expectancy of patients infected by Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) has prolonged, they are treated by physicians of different specialities. This article focuses on urologic complications of HIV infection. Urinary tract infections in HIV positive patients are more frequent than in otherwise healthy individuals and less common microorganisms can be involved. Sexually transmitted diseases are a commonplace. Certain malignancies of the genitourinary tract are more often diagnosed in HIV positive than in HIV negative population. Impairment of kidney function is usually caused by HIV-associated nephropathy. Acute renal failure can also occur. Indinavir causes urinary stones formation. Male circumcision is an effective method of HIV transmission prevention.

During the last 30 years many advances have been made in kidney tumor pathology. In 1981, 9 entities were recognized in the WHO Classification. In the latest classification of 2004, 50 different types have been recognized. Additional tumor entities have been described since and a wide variety of prognostic parameters have been investigated with variable success; however, much attention has centered upon the importance of features relating to both stage and grade. The International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) recommends after consensus conferences the development of reporting guidelines, which have been adopted worldwide ISUP undertook to review all aspects of the pathology of adult renal malignancy through an international consensus conference to be held in 2012. As in the past, participation in this consensus conference was restricted to acknowledged experts in the field.

In the work diagnostic value of cavography in diseases of retroperitoneum organs and anomalies of inferior vena cava and its tributaries is described with a special regard to urological diseases. In correlation with other examination procedures cavography gives valuable information on extent of renal tumours and their relation to surrounding structures, as well as on their infiltration into vascular system. It is justifiable also in diagnostics of primary tumours of retroperitoneum and in diseases of lymph nodes. It completes right diagnostic conclusion and it helps in decision of operability and in determination of therapeutic operation tactics. Its application exceeds the urological field, it brings also differentially diagnostic possibilities and it is applied also in control of therapeutic results. Cavography should not miss in arsenal of modern diagnostic methods.

Urological complications of colorectal cancer during surgery of the large bowel are relatively frequent. Fortunately these complications are as a rule transient and recede either spontaneously or after a suitably selected therapeutic procedure. Permanent complications account in our group comprising 311 patients only for a fraction of a per cent. The problem of carcinoma of the colon and rectum and treatment, along with possible complications, is becoming increasingly important in particular in conjunction with an objectively assessed shift of the prevalence of the disease to younger age groups. The group of patients treated in the authors' department on account of colorectal carcinoma during the last five years was evaluated in detail and thus it was possible to detect why different complications developed. This evaluation of all recorded cases was made from the diagnostic aspect as well as with regard to therapeutic possibilities, taking into account the technique of surgical approaches.
Ultrasonography holds an important place in urological diagnostics. The number of urological departments which have their own apparatus is increasing. So far, however, the opportunity of ultrasonic examination in routine practice of the urologist in out-patient departments is not common, despite the fact that it would be a great asset. In order to make maximum use of ultrasonographic equipment in the urological out-patient department is important to know also some potential negative aspects. Therefore the authors present their experience and compare it with data in the professional literature. The authors demonstrate on examples the impact of ultrasonography on diagnostic algorithms of some urological diseases.
