Rotavirové gastroenteritidy patří mezi nejčastější střevní infekce dětského věku, s maximemklinické manifestace u dětí do 5 let. Na našem dětském oddělení okresního typu s přesahemdo sousedních regionů bylo v posledních deseti letech hospitalizováno ročně kolem 140–180dětí s gastroenteritidou, z nichž u minimálně čtvrtiny byla potvrzena rotavirová etiologie.V kazuistice prezentujeme případ osmiměsíčního chlapce s rotavirovou gastroenteritidoua dehydratací. Stav byl komplikován ileokolickou invaginací, která musela být řešena chirur-gicky. Včasnou vakcinací mohlo být dítě před závažně probíhajícím onemocněním chráněno.

Rotavirus gastroenteritis belongs among the most common intestinal infections in childhood,with a peak clinical manifestation in children under 5 years of age. Around 140-180 childrenwith gastroenteritis, out of which in at least one-fourth of them the rotavirus aetiology wasconfirmed, were hospitalized in our district Paediatric department that serves also for adjacentregions.The case report presents an 8-month-old baby boy with rotavirus gastroenteritis and de-hydration. His condition was complicated by ileocolic intussusception that demanded surgicaltreatment. The early vaccination might protect the baby from such severe course of disease.
