Quinpirole (QNP) sensitization is a well-established model of stereotypical checking relevant to obsessive-compulsive disorder. Previously, we found that QNP-treated rats display deficits in hippocampus-dependent tasks. The present study explores the expression of immediate early genes (IEG) during QNP-induced stereotypical checking in the hippocampus, anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), and medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC). Adult male rats were injected with QNP (0.5 mg/mL/kg; n = 15) or saline (n = 14) daily for 10 days and exposed to an arena enriched with two objects. Visits to the objects and the corners of the arena were recorded. QNP-treated rats developed an idiosyncratic pattern of visits that persisted across experimental days. On day 11, rats were exposed to the arena twice for 5 min and sacrificed. The expression of IEGs Arc and Homer1a was determined using cellular compartment analysis of temporal activity by fluorescence in situ hybridization. IEG-positive nuclei were counted in the CA1 area of the hippocampus, ACC, OFC, and mPFC. We found significantly fewer IEG-positive nuclei in the CA1 in QNP-treated rats compared to controls. The overlap between IEG expressing neurons was comparable between the groups. We did not observe significant differences in IEG expression between QNP treated and control rats in ACC, OFC, and mPFC. In conclusion, treatment of rats with quinpirole decreases plasticity-related activity in the hippocampus during stereotypical checking.

Cíle: Byly stanoveny tyto cíle: - Zjistit, do jaké míry přetrvávají genderové stereotypy ve vztahu k profesi všeobecného ošetřovatele u dnešních středoškoláků, potenciálních studentů tohoto oboru. - Mezi zdravotníky ověřit, jak oni sami vnímají přítomnost mužů na pozici všeobecný ošetřovatel a zda management zdravotnických zařízení cíleně muže na tyto pozice vyhledává a motivuje k výkonu tohoto povolání. - U náhodně vybraných zástupců veřejnosti ověřit, zda v populaci přetrvávají genderové stereotypy v oblasti povolání. Metody: Kvantitativní průzkum formou anonymního dotazníku pro management nemocnic, všeobecné sestry a laickou veřejnost. Výsledky: Celkem bylo testováno 7 hypotéz s využitím základních statistických metod. Z vyhodnocení dotazníků pro středoškoláky vyplývá, že povolání všeobecného ošetřovatele studenti neznají a jejich představu o této práci nejvíce ovlivnily představy o povolání ošetřovatele. Dále se potvrdilo, že mladí lidé přebírají společenské a kulturní stereotypy v oblasti genderu a povolání. V oslovených zdravotnických zařízeních se počet mužů ve sledované profesi pohybuje mezi 1/3 – 1/5 celosvětového průměru. Vedení nemocnic nevyvíjí žádnou zvýšenou snahu o zvýšení jejich počtu. Zdravotníci samotní obecně toto povolání považují za vhodné pro obě pohlaví. Výsledky u zástupců veřejnosti prokázaly velmi pozitivní pokrok společnosti v oblasti genderové problematiky. Zjištěné náznaky genderové segregace byly minimální.

Aims: - Determine the extent to which gender stereotypes persist in relation to the profession of nurse in today's high school students, prospective students in this field. - Among health care professionals, to verify how they themselves perceive the presence of mens in the position of general nurse and whether management of health care facilities focused for mens for these positions also if they searched and motivated to pursue that profession. - In randomly selected members of the public, check if the population gender stereotypes persist in their profession. Methods: A quantitative survey using anonymous questionnaire for the management of hospitals, nurses and the general public. Results: A total of 7 tested hypotheses using basic statistical methods. The evaluation questionnaire for high school students shows that the profession of nurse students know and their idea of this work most influenced ideas about the care profession. It was further confirmed that young people take social and cultural stereotypes in gender and occupation. In the health facilities surveyed, the number of mens in the profession pursued between 1/3 - 1/5 of the world average. Keeping hospitals not involved in any extra effort to increase their numbers. Health workers themselves this profession generally considered suitable for both sexes. Results for members of the public showed very positive progress of society on gender issues. Detected signs of gender segregation were minimal.
