V Městské nemocnici Ostrava (MNO ) jsou pády sledovány formou písemného hlášení od roku 2001, od roku 2003 byly pády pacientů zařazeny mezi sledované indikátory kvality. Cílem retrospektivní studie bylo zhodnotit vývoj výskytu pádů pacientů v MNO za období 6 let a statisticky vyhodnotit závislost věku, pohlaví, okolností, za kterých k pádům dochází, časovým obdobím pádů a vzniku zranění v důsledku pádů s výskytem pádů pacientů. Data byla získána z 3477 záznamů pádů pacientů hospitalizovaných v MNO . Statistickým vyhodnocením bylo zjištěno, že výskyt pádů je závislý na věku, délce hospitalizace, zdravotním stavu a soběstačnosti pacientů, není závislý na pohlaví pacientů.
The aim of the retrospective analysis was to evaluate the trend of patients falls incidence over a period of 6 years in the Municipal Hospital Ostrava (MNO ) and statistically evaluate the dependency of the age, gender, circumstances under which the falls occur, time period of falls and injuries resulting from falls with the incidence of patients falls. The final file was created from 3 477 records of fall. It was found that the incidence of falls is dependent on age, length of hospitalization, patients´ health and self-sufficiency, it is not dependent on patients´ gender.

Na základě analýzy příčin úrazů a průběhu léčby u 55 pacientů - mužů ortopedické kliniky FNKV, kteří byli v době od října 1996 do dubna 1997 hospitalizováni pro domácí úraz, způsobený pádem, jsou diskutovány možnosti omezení počtu a závažnosti těchto úrazů. Rozbor ukazuje na existenci vzájemných vazeb mezi vnějšími a vnitřními příčinami, tj. mezi mechanikou úrazového děje a stavem a situací postiženého. Zdůrazňige se úloha komplexní mechanikou úrazového děje a stavem a situací postiženého. Zdůrazňuje se úloha komplexní a edukaci pacienta i okolí v otázkách režimu a chování.
Based on an analysis of causes of injuries and treatment of 55 male patients of the Orthopaedic Clinic of the Faculty Hospital hospitalized between Octber 1996 and April 1997 on account of injuries suffered in their homes, caused by a fall, the authors discuss possibilities how to reduce the number and severity of these injuries. The analysis indicates the existence of mutual links between external and internal causes, i.e. between the mechanics of the injury and the condition and state of the patient. The authors emphasize the role of comprehensive prevention of accidents incl. in addition to modification of the patient s flat and surroundings also attention to predisposing diseases and education of the patient and his family on problems of lifestyle and behaviour.
