Domáca umelá pľúcna ventilácia (DUPV) je liečebná metóda vyhradená pre najťažšie prípady pľúcnych, ale častejšie neurologických ochorení, spojených s respiračným zlyhaním. Domáca starostlivosť umožňuje osobám so špeciálnymi potrebami zostať v ich domove. Chronická respiračná insuficiencia u detí si vyžaduje špecifický prístup a domáca umelá pľúcna ventilácia je jednou z možností jej riešenia. Možnosť zabezpečenia takejto starostlivosti po stránke právnej, administratívnej, sociálnej, zdravotnej a ošetrovateľskej, významne prispieva pri zabezpečovaní kvality života detí a ich rodín.

Home mechanical ventilation is a treatment method reserved for the most severe cases of lung but more common neurological diseases associated with respiratory failure. Home care allows people with special needs to stay in their home. Chronic respiratory insufficiency in children requires a specific approach and home artificial lung ventilation is one of the possible solutions. The possibility of providing such care in terms of legal, administrative, social, health and nursing, contributes significantly to ensuring the quality of life of children and their families.

Tetanus je infekčné ochorenie, často so smrteľnými následkami. Kazuistikou 5 ročného chlapca letecky privezeného na Kliniku pediatrickej anestéziológie a intenzívnej medicíny v septembri 2017 opisujeme príznaky ochorenia, postup diagnostiky, liečby a následnej rehabilitácie. V tomto prípade so šťastným koncom, aj keď literatúra uvádza prevažne fatálne následky tohto ochorenia.

Tetanus is an infectious disease, often with fatal consequences. A case report of a 5 year old boy who was brought in by air rescue service and hospitalized at the Clinic of Pediatric Anesthesia and Intensive Medicine in September 2017 describes the symptoms of the disease, the procedure of diagnosis, treatment and subsequent rehabilitation. In this case, such a happy ending, despite the fact that the literature mainly mentions the fatal consequences of this disease.
