Historie léčby dentinové hypersenzitivity, popisované jako stav citlivosti obnaženého dentinu k vnějším stimulům, je dlouhá a bohatá. Počáteční léčba zubní bolesti byla empirická a vycházela z magicko-náboženských rituálů. Teprve po poznání morfologie dentinu a pochopení fyziologie dentinové bolesti ve století 19. mohly nastoupit racionální metody léčby citlivé zuboviny. Práce souhrnně uvádí nejčastěji používané léčebné prostředky k ošetření hypersenzitivního dentinu doložené ve stomatologické literatuře v posledních 150 letech. Uvádí také výčet jmen autorů, kteří významným způsobem přispěli k vývoji poznání v otázce dentinové hypersenzitivity a její léčby.

The history of treatment of dentin hypersensitivity described as sensitiveness of uncovered dentin to external stimuli is long and reach. Initial treatment of toothache was empiric and based on magical and religious habits. Rational methods in the treatment of sensitive dentin could be developed only after the understanding of dentin morfology and physiology of dentinal pain in the 19th century. The work summarizes the most frequently used methods in the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity refered in stomatological literature during the last 150 years. The list of authors that significantly contributed to the development of knowledge in the field of dentin hypersensitivity and its treatment is also included.
