Funkční poruchy trávicího ústrojí patří mezi nejčastější gastroenterologické problémy, pro které nemocní vyhledávají praktické lékaře nebo specialisty. Ukazuje se také, že čím je větší stupeň civilizace, tím je větší prevalence těchto stavů. Nicméně, i přes vysokou úroveň zdravotní péče v takových zemích je nepřehlédnutelné chybění konsenzu klasifikace a diagnostických kritérií jednotlivých typů a forem funkčních poruch trávicího ústrojí, což je dáno hlavně neznalostí jejich etiologie a patogeneze. Myšlenka vytvořit jednotnou formulaci příznaků a stanovit diagnostická kritéria vznikla již na začátku druhé poloviny 20. století. Předložený článek pojednává zejména o poslední klasifikaci funkčních poruch gastroduodenálního traktu (Funkční poruchy trávicího traktu - Římská klasifikace III), zejména o klasifikaci a diagnostických kritériích Funkční dyspepsie. Je pojednáno o její epidemiologii, léčbě a některých dalších okolnostech hodných pozornosti. Krátce jsou zmíněny i další stavy patřící mezi funkční gastroduodenální poruchy, tj. Funkční poruchy spojené s říháním, Funkční poruchy spojené s nauzeou a zvracením a Funkční ruminace. V článku je rovněž kapitola o tradiční české klasifikaci funkčních poruchy trávicího ústrojí, vytvořené zejména prof. Mařatkou.

Functional gastrointestinal disorders belong among the most common gastroenterological problems, for which patients visit general practitioners or specialists. It is also obvious that the greater degree of civilization, the greater prevalence of these conditions we have. Nevertheless, despite a high level of health care in some countries the missing consensus on classification and diagnostic criteria for different types and forms of digestive tract functional disorders is distinctive, which is mainly due to lacking knowledge of their etiology and pathogenesis. The idea to create a single formulation of symptoms and determine diagnostic criteria was already established at the beginning of the 20th century's second half. This article discusses in particular the most recent classification of gastroduodenal tract functional disorders (digestive tract functional disorders - the Rome III classification), in particular on the classification and diagnostic criteria of functional dyspepsia. It is a treatise on the epidemiology, treatment and certain other attention-worthy circumstances. Other conditions belonging to functional gastroduodenal disorders are shortly discussed too, i.e. functional disorders associated with eructation, functional disorders associated with nausea and vomiting and functional rumination. A chapter on the traditional Czech classification of digestive tract functional disorders, created especially by prof. Mařatka, is also included.
