Se zvyšující se incidencí karcinomu prostaty (KP) narůstá počet kurativně efektivních radikálních prostatektomií (RP) prováděných různými způsoby. Nejčastějšími komplikacemi v pooperačním období jsou inkontinence moči a erektilní dysfunkce (ED). Pro sexuálně aktivní muže ztráta erekce vede ke značnému poklesu kvality života. Četné publikace potvrzují přínos aktivního přístupu k této problematice jak ze strany urologů, tak i pacientů. Standardní strategie v této otázce neexistuje a kromě operační techniky zahrnuje pravidelné použití různých prostředků k dosažení erekce v pooperační péči. Autoři se zaměřili na současné možnosti prevence a léčby ED po RP.

With increasing incidents of prostate cancer, the number of curative, effective radical prostatectomies carried out through various means has been rising. The most frequent complications in the postoperative phase are urine incontinence and erectile dysfunction. For sexually-active men, losing their ability to have an erection can lead to a marked decline in their quality of life. Numerous publications confirm the benefits of both urologists and their patients taking an active stance towards this problem. A single, standard strategy for addressing the issue does not exist; apart from surgical techniques, methods include postoperative care and the regular use of various remedies to achieve an erection. The authors focused on the current options available for the prevention and treatment of erectile dysfunction after radical prostatectomy.
