Vysoká prevalence diabetu mellitu, nezanedbatelné náklady spojené s řešením pozdních komplikací tohoto onemocnění a stále nemalý podíl osob, které se nedaří včas a správně léčit, otevírají prostor pro zapojení lékárníka do péče o diabetiky. Cílem sdělení je blíže specifikovat prostředky a postupy používané při záchytu diabetu mellitu, a to s důrazem na možné zapojení lékárníka.

The high prevalence of diabetes mellitus, substantial costs associated with treatment of late complications of this disease and still a considerable proportion of persons who fail to be timely or properly treated, offer possibilities for pharmacists involvement in diabetes care. This report aims to specify the measures and procedures used in the early detection of diabetes mellitus with an emphasis on the possible involvement of the pharmacists.
