The article describes the methods of replacement of a part of the vertebra. It addresses such factors indication for surgery, the characteristics and classification of the operations. The treatment methods in traumatology has gone through development that can be compared to a spiral. Various methods whether it is splinting or using pins are improving. This is possible thank to new knowledge of skeletal biomechanics as well as development of diagnostics. There are also new types of materials such as titanium alloys which allow for development of new types of implants.
