Direct pulp capping is often perceived as procedure with very uncertain prognosis and can stress even experienced practitioners. Clinical instructions for direct pulp capping by means of composite resin and with the aid of haemostatic gel are described. The successful preservation of pulp vitality is dependent on practitioner's ability to comply with indications, maintain isolated working field and stick to basic principles of adhesive dentistry.
