Populační screening hladiny cholesterolu v krvi je jedním ze zásadních počinů jak zefektivnit primární prevenci kardiovaskulárních nemocí. Je možné ho spolehlivě provádět metodou suché chemie přístrojem Accutrend GC. Analyzovali jsme 4 různé soubory probandů: zaměstnanci Jihočeská drůbež Vodňany a.s., příslušníci mírových sil OSN V Českém Krumlově, regionální politici města České Budějovice a studenti Zdravotně-sociální fakulty Jihočeské Univerzity v Českých Budějovicích. Ani v jedné skupině jsme nezjistili uspokojivé výsledky. U studentů byla sice průměrná hodnota hladiny cholesterolu nižší než doporučená horní hranice normy, až 34% probandů však mělo hladinu cholesterolu vyšší. U všech dalších souborů byla průměrná hladina cholesterolu vyšší než doporučená horní hranice normy. Je tedy zřejmé, že na poli primární prevence kardiovaskulárních nemocí je ještě dostatek práce k vykonání.

Public screening of blood cholesterol level is one of the most important points how to potentiate primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Measuring can be performed by Accutrend GC method, a very reliable dry chemistry technique. We analysed 4 different groups: employees of the Chicken plant Vodftany, soldiers of UNPROFOR regiment in Český Krumlov, regional politicians of Budweis and students of the Southern Bohemia University. In any of the groups we have not found out satisfactory results. In students, the average of blood cholesterol level was lower than the top of normal value, but in 34% hypercholesterolemia was measured. In other groups, the average of blood cholesterol level was higher than the recommended value. Thus, it is obvious that there is a lot of work to do in the field of primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
