Androgen deprivační léčba s využitím analogů gonadoliberinu je základním prvkem léčby u indikovaných případů karcinomu prostaty. Agonisté se využívají častěji, ale v úvodu pro potlačení flare fenomenu je nutné zajištění antiandrogenní terapie, pokles hladiny testosteronu je pozdější. Antagonisté mají rychlý nástup účinku s poklesem testosteronu, zdá se i snížené riziko kardiovaskulárních komplikací a p. o. relugolix není zatížen bolestí a reakcemi v místě s. c. injekce jako degarelix. Pozornost je nutné věnovat rizikovým lékovým interakcím.
