Vaccination against plague is an important element of control over this exceptionally virulent infection. To be effective against virulent Yersinia pestis strains live plague vaccine produced from Yersinia pestis EV strain (EV vaccine) requires annual revaccinations. Use of EV vaccine for revaccination is limited due to the initially developed immune response that suppresses the live vaccine culture. Earlier studies showed that the use of immunomodulators activates immune response to vaccination. In our study we assessed the influence of human recombinant interleukin-1beta (Betaleukin) on immunogenic and protective efficacy of live plague vaccine in controlled experiments on animal models (rabbits and guinea pigs). In a long experiment (261 days) on rabbits we assessed indicators of antigen specific immune response to F1 antigen of Yersinia pestis. The early antigen specific response was evaluated based on the appearance of different avidity lymphocytes with F1 receptors. Effector phase of the immune response was asses based on the activity of antigen-specific antibodies. Results showed that the use of betaleukin as an immunoadjuvant increases vaccination efficacy by strengthening the effector phase of the immune response and promotion of the early stage of antigen-specific immune response to EV vaccine. Protective efficacy of betaleukin and EV vaccine combination was assessed in an experiment with guinea pigs. This experiment showed that injections of betaleukin facilitates the production of antibodies following vaccination and significantly increases the rates of survival after the challenge with virulent plague strain. At the same time single injections of betaleukin alone did not protect guinea pigs from death after injections of virulent plague strains.

A model of integration of sanitary-epidemiological services, organizations of primary health care (PHC), medical and social services and nongovernmental organizations in the sphere of public health was developed. Its introduction in a pilot region produced positive results in rendering preventive medical services to the public, which are evidenced by the results of a sociological questionnaire survey of the patients and health care providers. The level of medical and social case work with vulnerable social groups of the population increased. The amount of dispensary patients, visiting topical health promoting schools raised from 30.6% to 58.9%, which resulted in reducing the ambulance call-out frequency during the working hours of medical preventive institutions by 2.5 times (from 0.33 to 0.13; p <0.5). The system of infection control was introduced. Epidemiologist's actions enabled arrangement of continuity in epidemiological observation between territorial institutions of PHC and sanitary-epidemiological surveillance.

The influence of immunomodulation on dynamics of early antigen specific response (antigen binding lymphocytes - ABL) was studied in the experiment with rabbits immunization by herpes vaccine. Acceleration of appearance and disappearance of ABL after one-time immunization with herpes vaccine by introduction of licensed preparations of interleukin-1, interleukin-2, polyoxidonium and interferon inductor bacterial was revealed.

Ways and intensity of vertical transfer HCV have been studied before sorts in 29 lying-in women, positive on HCV-RNA. Among newborns from these mothers in serum of blood of umbilical cord at the moment of birth, HCV-RNA is found in 6.8%. The infection of newborns from HCV-RNA positive mother occurs through a placenta and at the time of delivery.
