Použitím vzorců dle Trotterové a Gleserové lze stanovit výšku postavy z délky kosti stehenní, holenní a pažní.
Background: We aimed to determine specific formulae by which we are able to estimate the body stature from the length of ulna and tibia calculated from the X-rays in order to be a reference for skeletal remains-based identification in Iranian population. Methods: The length of right ulna and tibia of 49 male and 52 female adults, who were anatomically healthy, were measured on the antero-posterior X-rays. Body height of each subject was also recorded. Results: Mean stature of the male and female adults was reported to be 171 ? 3.6 and 160 ? 3.9 centimeters (cm), respectively. Four single linear regression equations and 2 multiple regression equations were obtained. Conclusions: Lengths of ulna and tibia measured on the X-rays may be useful for estimation of the stature in cases of forensic personal identification.

The correct diagnosis of the ulnar sided wrist pain requires profound knowledge of the wrist anatomy, kinetics of the wrist and all pathological conditions that may cause such pain. In most cases the case history, clinical examination, x-ray examination and wrist arthroscopy are sufficient to establish the correct diagnosis. Yet it is difficult to identify the problem as clinical symptoms are similar and often overlap. This article provides a brief overview of the most frequent pathologies and mechanisms of injury, basic diagnostic procedure and treatment.

OBJECTIVE: To quantify humeroulnar incongruity on elbow radiographs in Labrador Retrievers with or without medial coronoid disease (MCD). STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective study of 92 elbows. SAMPLE POPULATION: Radiographic projections of elbow joints from Labrador Retrievers with MCD (n = 42 elbows; 26 dogs) and without MCD (n = 50 elbows; 25 dogs). PROCEDURE: The congruity of the humeroulnar joint was measured using an index of subluxation (SI) for each elbow. SI was defined as the distance between the centers of 2 circles drawn along the margins of the incisura trochlearis and the trochlea of humerus on mediolateral digital radiographic projections, normalized by the radius of the circle circumscribing the humeral trochlea. SI was compared between right and left elbows with and without pathology using a Wilcoxon test for paired data, and between normal and abnormal groups with a Wilcoxon test for unpaired data. Mismatch between ulnar curvature and curvature of humeral trochlea and radioulnar incongruency were also noted (Wilcoxon test). The intraobserver repeatability, correlation between SI and radioulnar incongruency, and between SI and mismatch elbow curvature were estimated with a Pearson's correlation coefficient. RESULTS: Intraobserver repeatability of SI measurement was high (r = 0.97). Mean ± SD humeroulnar incongruity (SI) was greater in elbows with MCD (18.5 ± 6.6) than in the normal elbows (1.7 ± 2.0, P < 0.001). The difference between the diameters of the curvatures of the ulnar and humeral trochlea was greater in elbows with MCD (12.5 ± 4.4) than in the normal group (10.7 ± 4.1, P < 0.05). A moderate correlation was found between the degree of humeroulnar incongruity and a radioulnar step (r = 0.63); however, no correlation was identified between SI and the difference between the diameters of the curvatures of the ulnar and humeral trochleae (r = 0.14). CONCLUSION: We propose a radiographic index to measure humeroulnar incongruity on mediolateral digital radiographic projections. This index (SI) supports the presence of humeroulnar incongruity in Labrador Retrievers with MCD. Further evaluation of its reproducibility and clinical importance are warranted. Although there is a moderate correlation between humeroulnar incongruity and radioulnar incongruency, causation has not been established.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY In this retrospective study we analyse the methods of Monteggia lesion (ML) treatment in children used in our department. Based on the results we propose several general principals for the therapy of this complex injury to the forearm in agrowing skeleton. MATERIAL The group included patients with the diagnosis of acute ML treated at our department in the 2003-2007 period. No patients in whom therapy was started later than two weeks after injury were included. METHODS We assessed injuries according to the Bado classification system modified by Olney for young age, and also by the system based on ML stability assessment previously published by us.We evaluated the type of ulnar fracture and lesions affecting the radio-humero-ulnar joint, and the therapeutic method used. The treatment outcome was evaluated by the criteria proposed by Letts et al. for the elbow joint in children (minimal follow-up of one year). RESULTS In the five-year period, we treated 36 children with acute ML. The most frequent were patients with Bado type I equivalent lesion (61 %) and those with unstable ML (53 %). We treated 39 % of the patients conservatively and 61% by osteosynthesis. The ;osteosynthesis of one bone was performed in 30 % (radius, 11 % ulna, 19 %) and of both bones in 31 % of the cases. The outcome assessed by the Letts score was excellent in 80 %, good in 17 % of the patients and poor in only one patient (3 %). DISCUSSION There is general consensus in the literature that childhood ML, if early and correctly diagnosed and correctly treated, has a good prognosis in most of the cases, in contrast to adult ML. However, the views on therapy vary from closed reduction under general anaesthesia to routine surgical exploration of the radio-humero-ulnar joint with open reduction of dislocation of the radial head and temporary radio-humeral arthrodesis. However, a unified therapeutic approach to an immature skeleton has not been proposed yet. CONCLUSIONS In the treatment of a growing skeleton, the reduction and stabilisation of an ulnar fracture is of primary concern. Only then is the management of injury to the radio-humero-ulnar joint reasonable. Any ML should always be considered on the whole. In most cases, a stable lesion is indicated for conservative treatment and an unstable one for surgical stabilisation. Apotentially unstable lesion should first be managed conservatively and, if this fails, by surgical stabilisation.
