The article introduces the enhancements made to the IsoArcH database for isotope paleopathology. This includes the addition of new metadata fields, which allow for describing abnormal anatomical or physiological conditions in humans and animals at either the individual or sample level. To showcase the novel features of the database, the article features a unique dataset of carbon and nitrogen isotope values obtained on bulk bone collagen from 42 clinically-documented cases of the Jedlička pathological-anatomical reference collection, dating from the 19th century CE and curated at the National Museum in Prague, Czechia. The dataset includes 70 combined isotopic measurements from individuals who underwent anatomizations between 1841 and 1900 and had distinct bone diseases/disorders: i.e. syphilis, rickets, osteosarcoma, osteomyelitis, and healed fractures. Finally, the article highlights the value of the data in helping the isotope bioarchaeology and paleopathology communities in their understanding of disease processes.

Transcriptome data were collected in rat dopamine cells exposed to fipronil for 24 h using microarray analysis. Fipronil is a phenylpyrazole pesticide that acts to inhibit gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), blocking inhibitory synaptic transmission in the central nervous system. Transcriptome data were subjected to pathway analysis and subnetwork enrichment analysis. We report that 25 µM fipronil altered transcriptional networks in dopamine-synthesizing cells that are associated with Alzheimer's Disease, Huntington Disease, and Schizophrenia. Data analysis revealed that nerve fibre degeneration, nervous system malformations, neurofibrillary tangles, and neuroinflammation were all disease processes related to the transcriptome profile observed in the rat neuronal cells. Other disease networks altered by fipronil exposure at the transcript level were associated with the mitochondria, including mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome and mitochondrial encephalomyopathies. These data, along with those presented in Souders et al. (2021), are significant because they increase understanding into the molecular mechanisms underlying human disease following exposures to neuroactive pesticides. These data can be reused to inform adverse outcome pathways for neurotoxic pesticides.

We compiled data from histological sources on the formation ages for human mandibular and maxillary permanent first molars, lateral and central incisors and canines. From this we summarised the data by reporting weighted means for cusp initiation, crown completion and apex completion. This provides a reference for bioarchaeological and medical studies investigating early childhood. More specifically, this reference is a crucial element in the study of early childhood nutrition and morbidity from osteological analysis and stable isotope analyses of teeth and their growth increments.

We performed a search to identify available wearable sensors systems that can collect patient health data and have data sharing capabilities. Findings available in "Wearable sensors with possibilities for data exchange: Analyzing status and needs of different actors in mobile health monitoring systems" [1]. We performed an initial search of the Vandrico wearable database, and supplemented the resulting device list with an internet search. In addition to relevant meta-data (i.e. name, description, manufacturer, web-link, etc.) for each device, we also collected data on 13 attributes related to data exchange. I.e. device type, communication interface, data transfer protocol, smartphone and/or PC integration, direct integration to open health platform, 3rd platform integration with open health platform, support for health care system/middleware connection, recorded health data types, integrated sensors, medical device certification, whether or not the use can access collected data, device developer access, and device availability on the market. In addition, we grouped each device into three groups of actors that these devices are relevant for: electronic health record providers, software developers, and patients. The collected data can be used as an overview of available devices for future researchers with interest in the mobile health (mHealth) area.

Genetic association studies suggest a genetic predisposition for cisplatin-induced ototoxicity. Among other candidate genes, thiopurine methyltransferase (TPMT) is considered a critical gene for susceptibility to cisplatin-induced hearing loss in a pharmacogenetic guideline. The PanCareLIFE cross-sectional cohort study evaluated the genetic associations in a large pan-European population and assessed the diagnostic accuracy of the genetic markers. 1,112 pediatric cancer survivors who had provided biomaterial for genotyping were screened for participation in the pharmacogenetic association study. 900 participants qualified for inclusion. Based on the assessment of original audiograms, patients were assigned to three phenotype categories: no, minor, and clinically relevant hearing loss. Fourteen variants in eleven candidate genes (ABCC3, OTOS, TPMT, SLC22A2, NFE2L2, SLC16A5, LRP2, GSTP1, SOD2, WFS1, and ACYP2) were genotyped. The genotype and phenotype data represent a resource for conducting meta-analyses to derive a more precise pooled estimate of the effects of genes on the risk of hearing loss due to platinum treatment.

This manuscript is an accompanying resource of the original research article entitled "Child development at 6 years after maternal cancer diagnosis and treatment during pregnancy" and present data that compare the outcome of 6-year-old-children born to women diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy (with or without treatment during pregnancy) (study group) with children born after an uncomplicated pregnancy (control group). Oncological, obstetrical and neonatal data were collected. Neurodevelopment was examined by clinical evaluation and neuropsychological testing (including intelligence, attention and memory tests) and by general health and behavior questionnaires. Cardiac evaluation included electro- and echocardiography. Univariate analyses of covariance were used to investigate between-group differences. A subgroup analysis was performed in chemotherapy-exposed children versus controls and anthracycline-exposed versus controls. Additionally, the incidence of behaviour problems was compared to matched controls for children whose mothers died and for those with surviving mothers.

The COVID-19 pandemic influenced the work of employees across all continents. This article presents raw data that may be used to describe how the pandemic affected the work of employees in four European countries and how it influenced their job attitudes, feelings and work performance. In total, 726 respondents from Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Italy filled out an extensive online survey and provided information about changes in their workload, work difficulty, income, social contact, work from home, task performance and organizational commitment during the pandemic, and about the risk of being infected by COVID-19 during their workday. The employees also reported their actual work performance, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, intention to leave and irritation in the time of the pandemic. To reveal factors that might help employees cope with pandemic, the respondents filled out established questionnaires measuring servant leadership of their supervisor, perceived organizational support, social support provided by colleagues, their own occupational self-efficacy, resilience, job crafting and readiness for change. The data is unique as it was collected in a specific situation during the pandemic, when the work of employees was affected by security measures and lockdown introduced by governments in countries where they worked.

Inflammasomes are large protein complexes involved in the maturation of IL-1β, a cytokine associated with the pathophysiology of type 1 diabetes (T1D). The data presented in this article focused on the role of inflammasomes in DNA recognition in T1D patients. This data extend knowledge on DNA sensing in T1D patients and relate to our research paper "Monocytes contribute to DNA sensing through the TBK1 signaling pathway in type 1 diabetes patients" Zentsova et al., 2009. To examine inflammasome involvement, we blocked the known mechanism of inflammasome activation - potassium efflux via various approaches: 1) high concentration of KCl; 2) Glybenclamide, which selectively blocks the ATP sensitive K+ channel; 3) KN-62, an inhibitor of P2X7 receptor, which activates K+ channel after ATP binding. Moreover, we used an inhibitor which blocks Nod-like receptor family containing pyrin domain 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome. In T1D patients, we show that secretion of cytokines IL-1β, TNFα, IL-6 and IFNα after microbial DNA stimulation is promoted by potassium efflux and is not dependent on P2X7 receptor signaling. Surprisingly, the microbial DNA induced IL-1β release was independent of NLRP3.

This article presents the dataset of the healthcare systems indicators of 120 countries during 2010-2017, which is related to the research article "Cross-efficiency evaluation in the presence of flexible measures with an application to healthcare systems" [1]. The data is collected from the World Bank and selected for the 120 countries. Depending on their role in the performance of the healthcare systems, the indicators are categorized into input (I), output (O) and flexible measure (FM) where the FM measure can play either role of input or output in the healthcare system. The dataset can be used to perform efficiency as well as cross-efficiency analysis of the healthcare systems using methods such as data envelopment analysis (DEA) in the presence of flexible measure.
