Byly sestaveny tři anonymní dotazníky: č. 1 – dotazník pracovní spokojenosti, č. 2 – dotazník porovnání přání zaměstnanců s mírou plnění ze strany organizace, vč. srovnání výsledků s odhadem řešitele, a dotazník č. 3 – důležitost vzdělání, důležitost pilné a efektivní práce, dle názoru respondentů. Dotazníky byly rozdány všem středním a nižším zdravotnickým pracovníkům tohoto zařízení (celkem 87 SZP a PZP). Článek se týká práce, lidského faktoru, motivace k práci, systému kvality péče a služeb, duševního kapitálu, image organizace a možností získání konkurenční výhody. Jde zde o snahu osvětlit dovednosti z oblasti emoční inteligence a vliv lidského faktoru (zaměstnance) na prosperitu firmy. Dovednosti z oblasti emoční inteligence se mohou stát „značkou“ jednotlivých zdravotnických zařízení a lidský faktor zdrojem bohatství a prosperity státního i nestátního zdravotnického zařízení.
The target of the work was determination of the satisfaction of employees of health facilities, effects of their satisfaction on economic results of the company and furthermore relationships and attitudes of employees, i. e. healthcare professionals, to adhering to standards, professionalism and education. Methods of inquiring, dialogues with selected respondents, observation and data analysis were used. This was a quantitative research. Three anonymous questionnaires were arranged as follows: No. 1 – questionnaire of the satisfaction with the occupation, No. 2 – questionnaire comparing wishes of employees with the measure of their satisfying on the part of the organization, including comparison of results with the estimate by the investigator, and questionnaire No. 3 – importance of the education, of the diligent and effective work according to opinions of respondents. The questions for the arrangement of questionnaires were taken and adjusted from the internet sites Internet medical education (www.intermed.cz). The last step was a comparison of the economic result of the company in selected months (at a half-year interval). These were the third month before the changes and third month after the changes implemented in the health facility and new approaches in the company management. The questionnaires were subjected to all the middle and inferior healthcare professionals of these facilities (total of 87 middle healthcare professionals and helping healthcare professionals). The success of the research was of 37.2%. The result demonstrated that the improvement of the satisfaction of employees positively affects the economic activity of the company; the interest of employees in the operation of the company was enhanced and a positive attitude to adhering to standards was also demonstrated. The article concerns the work, human factor, motivation to the work, system of the quality of the care and services, mental capital, image of the organization and possibilities of acquiring competitive advantages. There is an attempt to explain the skills in the field of the emotional intelligence and effects of the human factor (employee and the company prosperity). The skills in the field of the emotional intelligence can become a “mark” of particular health facilities and the human factor can be a source of the wealth and prosperity of state as well as non-state health facilities.
Prevalence kouření jako aktuálního zdravotního problému drtivé většiny zemí vykazuje v posledních letech mírný pokles spotřeby tabáku především mezi muži a staršími věkovými skupinami, avšak stoupající trend mezi ženami a především mladšími věkovými skupinami a dětmi, kam je také primárně cílen nejen marketing tabákových firem, ale i většina současných výzkumů. Tuto práci proto autoři zaměřili v souvislosti s konáním konference Problematika Generace 50 plus, jíž je Zdravotně sociální fakulta Jihočeské univerzity pravidelným spolupořadatelem, na sledování věkově opačného pólu, než jaký je cílem většiny studií, na skupinu seniorů – současných studentů Univerzity třetího věku Zdravotně sociální fakulty Jihočeské univerzity v Č. Budějovicích a jejích studentů bývalých, členů Klubu Univerzity třetího věku.
The prevalence of smoking as a topical health problem in most countries exerts a moderate decrease in the tobacco consumption over the last years, particularly among men and older age groups, but an increasing trend among women and particularly younger age groups and children, which are also primarily targets not only of the marketing attempts of tobacco companies but also of most contemporary research programmes. Thus, the authors aimed their work, in association with holding the conference Problems of Generation 50 plus, which is regularly co-organized by the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia, at following the population on the opposite group compared to most studies: a group of seniors – students of the University of Third Age of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice and former students, members of the Club of the University of the Third Age. The sample group consisted of people having active approach to their lives, who are interested in acquiring new information even at their advanced age. The authors examined their standpoints and habits in the field of the consumption of tobacco, effects of advertisements, health education, economical problems and health condition. The principal result is the fact that most smokers considered were able to stop smoking. The authors worked with a sample of 97 subjects aged 50 to 85 years; the average age was of 64.5 years. Forty-three respondents of the total number of 97 stated that they were smoking sometimes in the past. Today, only 6 persons are smoking; 37 smokers stopped smoking, i.e. 86% of the subjects, who were regularly smoking for a period longer than one year sometimes in the past. A further interesting finding is the opinion of subjects that neither the prevention nor the advertisements of tobacco products played any role in forming their standpoints and opinions as usually considered. The most important factor why they started smoking was supporting their status in an informal group – crowd; the most frequent reason for which they stopped smoking were fears of health consequences of smoking.

Hormony štítné žlázy ovlivňují a regulují rozhodujícím způsobem intenzitu bazálního metabolismu.
Iodine is a trace element, whose principal function in the human body is its participation in the production of thyroid hormones triiodthyronine and thyroxine. Thyroid hormones affect and regulate the basal metabolism intensity in a decisive manner. Iodine insufficiency can result in decreased secretion of thyroid hormones, hypothyreosis, which is a source of numerous health problems. The manifestation of the iodine insufficiency is endemic struma – thyroid gland hypertrophy. In contrast to this, iodine excess leads to an elevated secretion of thyroid hormones, hyperthyreosis. This can result in a development of autoimmunity thyreopathies. Our country has long belonged to regions with very low contents of iodine in the soil. Thus, under our conditions, the main sources of the iodine are the sea fish and further sea animals and, to a lesser extent, the eggs and milk. Based on a suggestion by prof. Françoise Délange, an inter-sector commission organizes every year the Day of Iodine in the Czech Republic on March 6th, which is a promoting campaign for the wide public. The day of iodine should remind the wide lay and professional public the importance of the presence of iodine in the food for the human health. The Czech Republic, in spite of having lack of natural iodine sources, successfully solved the problem of the iodine deficiency thanks to the intensive activity of the inter-sector commission for the solution of the iodine deficiency in cooperation with health professionals, with members of the state administration and with undertaking sectors. The prevention of the iodine insufficiency is one of targets of the long-term program of improving the health of the population “Health 21”. Experience from countries, in which the iodine deficiency was also successfully faced, demonstrates in agreement with our experience that the global success does not hold for the whole population. There are groups of persons, who are ever more threatened by the iodine deficiency. In contrast, in certain groups of the population, there is an excess saturation with iodine. In the next period, we should more closely consider the optimisation of the iodine contents in food of animal origin, particularly in the milk, and at the education and provisions concerning meaningful use of nutritional supplements in the diet of humans and animals.

Organic foods, products of ecological agriculture (organic farming) offer values and qualities, which have not yet been sufficiently explained to the consumers. Word marks “bio” and “eco”, similarly as the use of adjectives “biological” and “ecological” in association with foods is protected by legislation in a decision of the EU Council (Decision of the European Economic Community No. 2092/91). In accordance with the decision of the EU Council, each ecologically manufactured product should be marked with a stamp including a code of the control organization. In the Czech Republic, the use of the Czech national mark bio became usual: “Bio-product: Product of organic farming”. In accordance with valid Law No. 242/2000 Sb on ecological farming, the use of the mark on Czech products is obligatory. Organic food is a foodstuff industry product acquired from bioproducts and restricted amounts of approved admixtures delimited by a technology procedure in accordance with special directions and under a control regimen. Over the last ten years, the European bio-product market increased on average by 25% annually. Since 1993, the receipts in the Czech Republic were increased by a factor of nearly ten. Expressions healthier, more nutrient or more tasteful are related to organic foods in general. The health takes the first position as a motivation for purchasing organic foods according to results of examination in consumers. In contrast, the environmental protection as a motivation takes a back seat. There is also a frequent discussion about the association between “bio” and a health. There are also reports, in which the value of organic foods for the health is considered doubtful or even principally refused. It is possible to hear opinions that plants grown without industrial fertilizers suffer from malnutrition or unvaried nutrition and thus, they do not exert the desirable chemical composition or that without treatment with pesticides, they can comprise harmful mycotoxins or other metabolites. What is the actual quality of organic foods? Organic foods are certainly healthier due to the fact that they were produced without inputs of risk substances and that they contain considerably more fibrous material, less added sugars, fats and additives, which undoubtedly positively affects their quality, human health and environment.

V roce 1988 iniciovala OSN – Světová zdravotní organizace (WHO) mezinárodní Projekt Zdravé město (WHO Healthy Cities Project), ke kterému přizvala nejvýznamnější evropské metropole. „Plán zdraví a kvality života“.
In 1988, the UNO – World Health Organisation (WHO) initiated an international project healthy city (WHO Healthy Cities Project) with inviting the most important European metropolises. Over fifteen years, 1300 healthy cities, villages and regions in 30 European countries joint the project. The concept of the project has been implemented in the Czech Republic after 1989. The healthy city, village, microregion or region is a prestigious name for a municipality, which was actively included into the international project the healthy city (village, region), under the patronage of the UNOWHO. In 1994, eleven active cities established an association named the National Network of Healthy Cities of the Czech Republic (NSZM ČR). The NSZM is currently the only municipal association in the Czech Republic having in its statute systematic support of practical implementation of the values such as the sustainable development, health and life quality under conditions of our cities, villages and regions. Since 2003, the association is open in direction of all forms of municipalities. The NSZM ČR has total of 82 members with regional influence on 1207 cities and villages and 2.4 million inhabitants (24% of the Czech population). Basic principles of the programme are supporting the health and life quality of inhabitants, support of the sustainable development and active cooperation of the wide public. The program is based on the document Health 21 and Agenda 21 with close relationships to the strategy of the sustainable development and local program Agenda 21, NEHAP ČR/LEHAP (action plan of the health and environment – national/local). In accordance with the NSZM method, the community planning is based on the community plan – so called “Plan of the health and life quality”. The plan is interconnected with the strategic plan of the municipality and further important documents and also with the city budget to provide their parallel contribution to the system strategic development. Healthy cities, villages and regions thoughtfully try to form the city (village, region) as a quality and pleasant place for the life.

Influenza is a disease resulting in high morbidity and economical losses in all the labour spheres in the Czech Republic. In expert circles, it is a matter of general opinion that the vaccination with inactivated commercially available vaccines still before the influenza period is one of the most important anti-epidemic provisions against this infection. The vaccination in risk groups can considerably reduce the negative impact of possible influenza epidemic or pandemic not only on this group, but on the population as whole. Cases of death actually occur not only due to influenza but mainly due to its complications, the most important of them being secondary bacterial pneumonia or decompensation of pre-existing disease (cardiac, pulmonary, etc.). Most fatal cases due to influenza occur in elderly people, but all the age groups of the population are involved by this disease in the course of the influenza epidemics. The vaccination against influenza in the Czech Republic is focused on persons who belong to risk groups as specified in Regulation of Ministry of Health No. 439/2000 “On vaccination against infectious diseases”. For the persons specified, the vaccination is free of charge. From July 1, Regulation of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic No. 225/2005 came in effect, according to which health insurance companies will cover vaccination against influenza for the following groups of persons: Inpatients over 65 years of age, inpatients after the splenectomy and transplantation of haemopoietic cells, inpatients who suffer from severe chronic and pharmacologically treated disease of the heart and blood vessels, airways or kidneys and inpatients with diabetes, as far as they are not vaccinated against influenza within the scope of regular or special vaccination in accordance with Regulation of the Ministry of Health No. 439/2000 Sb. “On vaccination against infectious diseases” in wording of latter regulations.
V posledních letech vzbudilo obavy objevení nového subtypu viru chřipky A (H5N1), tzv. ptačí chřipky. První zmínky o viru jsou z Itálie z počátku minulého století. Virus byl poprvé izolován v Jižní Africe v roce 1961. Poprvé infikoval lidi v Hongkongu v roce 1997. Od poloviny roku 2003 způsobil největší a nejzávažnější nákazy drůbeže, v prosinci 2003 byly zaznamenány infekce u lidí, kteří byli v kontaktu s nemocnými ptáky.
In the course of recent years, the occurrence of a new subtype of the influenza A virus (H5N1), so called bird influenza, resulted in fear. First reports on the virus came from Italy, from the beginning of the last century. The virus was first isolated in South Africa in 1961. It first infected humans in Hong Kong in 1997. From the middle of 2003 it caused the largest and most severe infections of the poultry, and in December 2003, infections in people, who were in contact with sick birds, were recorded. Since then, the disease was demonstrated by laboratory diagnosis in over 100 patients in four Asian countries (Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam) and more than half the patients died. Most cases occurred in children and young adults, who were healthy before this infection. Birds are hosts of this virus. The infection propagates most rapidly in domestic birds. The disease also occurs in free-living, migrating birds. The virus cannot be easily transferred to humans. The transfer from man to man is also not easy. If H5N1 were mutated into a form as infectious as human influenza, there would be a danger of pandemic. The propagation of the bird influenza leads countries throughout the world to the development of plans for suppressing possible pandemic. The disease development can be positively affected by two drugs from the group of neuraminidase inhibitors. The first drug is oseltamivir (Tamiflu), which is available on our market, the second drug being zanamivir (Relenza), which is not available there. Particularly vaccination is of prior importance in the influenza prevention.
Zdraví patří k základním kamenům úspěšné společnosti stejně jako svoboda, hospodářská prosperita, vzdělanost a sociální soudržnost. K cílevědomému udržování a zvyšování úrovně zdravotního stavu obyvatelstva jsou nutné co nejúplnější objektivní poznatky o něm. Bez nich by nebylo možné rozpoznat závažné zdravotní problémy, řešit je a stanovovat priority a cíle zdravotní politiky. Na celosvětovém fóru o chronických nemocech v roce 2004 v Ottavě (Kanada) řekl generální ředitel Světové zdravotnické organizace (WHO) dr.
Health belongs to foundation stones of successful society, similarly as freedom, economical prosperity, degree of education and social solidarity. Objective and as complete knowledge as possible concerning the health is necessary for the purposeful maintenance and enhancement of the level of the health condition of inhabitants. Without this knowledge, it would be impossible to recognize severe health problems, to solve them and to establish priorities and targets of the health policy. At a worldwide forum of chronic diseases, held in Ottawa (Canada) in 2004, the general director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Lee Jong-Wood told that „our knowledge is sufficient for implementation, which is available and cost-effective.”, and the “preventive and clinical methods of interventions should be performed throughout the world”. One of the steps is the annual celebration of the World Day of Health. The World Day of Health is celebrated every year in April 7. The target of the World Day of Health, which is being celebrated since 1950, is to enhance the global awareness concerning the specific field of health and highlight main areas of the interest of the World Health Organization. Thus, every year, the World Health Organization announces a theme for the World Day of Health, aimed at a certain topical problem.
