Fotografie byly zařazeny do webového dotazníku.
The present work strives to answer the questions about the impact of diastema of different width and shape on the evaluation of smile attractiveness, and whether there are differences related to age and gender of evaluators, and differences between lay public and experts, and whether there are different perceptions of a face photograph and a smile detail. A digital photo of a smiling young woman with a minor diastema was adjusted so that the diastema was closed, widened, and of different shapes. Thus there were made 10 variants of the same smiling face, out of which details of smile were cut. Photographs became a part of web questionnaire. 273 respondents evaluated attractiveness on the scale; respondents were subdivided according to gender, age and profession. The diastema was significantly better evaluated in the photograph of a face, in comparison with a smile detail. The smile with diastema of 0.5 mm was still seen as attractive. However, it was evaluated less positively than the smile without diastema. The evaluation was stricter with wider diastema. To improve patient's smile attractiveness, it is recommended to close diastema over 1 mm during orthodontic treatment.

Agenesis of maxillary lateral incisors occurs as the second most common agenesis in Europe. Its location - frontal segment of maxilla – causes a great aesthetic handicap which can lead to mental and social problems of the patients concerned. Therefore young patients require an appropriate treatment as early as in their adolescence which is limiting for determining further treatment procedure. There are two options – either closing the gap in the site of agenesis or opening the gap for lateral incisor substitution. This substitution might be an adhesive bridge (during the period of growth) or an intra-bone implant (after the end of growth). The authors present here a case study of an adult patient with agenesis of both maxillary lateral incisors. The anomaly was corrected by opening ideal gaps in the sites of agenesis (done by fixed orthodontic appliances) and by inserting implants there. The location of the implants and the overall aesthetics of the frontal segment of maxilla were designed using a digital analysis in smile (digital smile design). In order to reach the best possible final aesthetics of smile, the prosthodontic protocol was supplemented by mucogingival surgery (clinical crown lengthening of canines and central incisors by gingivectomy) resulting in clinical crown lengthening and gummy smile correction. The treatment of maxillary lateral incisors is a typical example of interdisciplinary method of orthodontic anomaly correction and only the precision of all involved specialists can lead to perfect results.

The present research was motivated by the routine digital media practice of producing page layouts as composite images that include several unrelated pictures. We investigated whether or how visually highlighting affective and positional components of pictures in a viewer's field of vision might influence viewer perception and evaluation of the composite image. We examined combinations of visual, spatial, and affective features of cues in composite images to learn whether they affected the viewer's attentional capture of other affective information in the composite image and viewer's affective evaluations. The manipulation check of the feature combinations (positive/negative affect, presence/absence of highlighted color, central/peripheral position) showed significant effects of these features and their interactions on viewers' eye movements. On the other hand, we observed only a small effect on viewers' affective evaluations. Our results suggested that media page layout designers might manipulate the viewer's attention by visual and positional adjustments of affective components in composite images. Future researchers might use this study's design to better understand the human perception of real media images.
