The goal of this report is to provide information about a new approach to the outpatient treatment of people addicted to stimulant drugs such as cocaine, crack, and pervitin. A new approach involving a brief intervention programme has been implemented in the UK. This methodology was developed by Aidan Gray of Rugby House, London. On the basis of cooperation between P-centrum Olomouc and Rugby House London, we would like to use this methodology in the Czech Republic. The programme was primarily designed for persons addicted to cocaine and crack. We intend to adapt it for users of pervitin in the Czech Republic. During a three-year period we will evaluate the programme to ascertain its effectiveness. The outcome of our work will be the Pervitin Use Brief Intervention Programme. The article describes the experience of pervitin users only. Therefore, it is not possible to generalise all the information presented in this article or apply it to the drug user population as a whole.
