INTRODUCTION: The development of children's healthy and active lifestyles, including habit formation for optimal 24-hour movement behaviour, is associated with their family environment. A whole-family study collecting comprehensive data that can evaluate family lifestyle behaviours in different settings in depth has the potential to provide the evidence-based information needed for national guidelines, for designing interventions and for supporting policy-makers' decisions. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The FAMIly Physical Activity, Sedentary behaviour and Sleep (FAMIPASS) study is a nationally representative cross-sectional study that will recruit 500 families (with at least 1 child aged between 3 and 8 years) from the urban and rural parts of all three regions of the Czech Republic. To examine the relationship between family environment and children's healthy development (eg, healthy weight) and children's active lifestyle behaviour, anthropometric measures, parents' health-related behaviour (including dietary habits, alcohol and tobacco use, screen time and bedtime rules and 24-hour movement behaviour), socioeconomic data and data about the characteristics of the home and neighbourhood will be collected from parents and children. The 24-hour movement behaviour (eg, sleep, sedentary behaviour and physical activity) will be monitored using wGT3X-BT and GT9X Link ActiGraph accelerometers placed on the non-dominant wrist of the children and their parents for 7 consecutive days. The accelerometers will be set up for each family separately, using the group proximity mode, allowing proximity tagging between devices and establishing the time spent together and parent-child coactivities. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: The overarching methodological protocol of the FAMIPASS project was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic (reference number: 25/2021). The results and findings will be reported to: (1) the participating families and (2) school representatives and will be (3) presented at national and international conferences and (4) disseminated via peer-reviewed publications.

Adult survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ASALL) compose a specific group that faces an increased risk of experiencing late effects of their earlier treatment. Physical activity (PA) may be one of the appropriate means for preventing or minimizing the late effects of treatment. The main purpose of this study is to characterize device-measured PA and sedentary behavior (SB) among ASALL. The specific objective was to compare the movement behavior with a group recruited from the healthy population and to determine the degree of compliance with health recommendations for PA in the adult population. Twenty ASALL and 21 healthy control group (CG) members participated in the study. Participants were between 18 and 30 years old. Movement behavior was assessed for seven days using an Axivity AX3 accelerometer and a 24-h wearing protocol. Movement behavior was characterized by the amount of time spent in SB, light PA (LPA), moderate PA (MPA), and vigorous PA (VPA). There were no significant differences in movement behavior or compliance with PA recommendations between the ASALL and CG. During the week, the ASALL accumulated 711 min per day of SB vs. 636 min per day in the CG (p = 0.26); the ASALL had 186 min per day of LPA vs. 201 min per day in the CG (p = 0.47); the ASALL had 132 min per day of MPA vs. 147 min per day in the CG (p = 0.25); and the ASALL had 5 min per day of VPA vs. 4 min per day in the CG (p = 0.48). All research participants (ASALL and CG) met the PA recommendations of > 150 min per week for moderate PA. The results of our study suggest that ASALL, even after suffering from that disease in childhood, display comparable levels of PA and SB to their healthy peers. Both groups met the health recommendations for PA. The device-based monitoring of PA and SB should be an integral part of monitoring the late effects of treatment.

Cíl: Hlavním cílem studie je pomocí objektivních přístrojů zhodnotit 24hodinové pohybové chování (tj. spánek, sedavé chování a pohybovou aktivitu) u českých rodin s dětmi ve věku 3–8 a identifikovat faktory snižující riziko výskytu nadměrné tělesné hmotnosti u těchto dětí. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvoří reprezentativní vzorek 425 rodin z městských a venkovských obcí z regionů Čech, Moravy a Slezska. Všichni členové rodiny dokončili sedmidenní monitorování 24hodinového pohybového chování pomocí akcelerometrů nošených na zápěstí. Antropometrické údaje spolu s potenciálními faktory souvisejícími s tělesnou hmotností byly zjišťovány prostřednictvím dotazníku a rodinného deníku vyplňovaného rodiči. Z-skóre body mass indexu a kategorizace podle percentilových grafů Světové zdravotnické organizace diferencovaný dle věku a pohlaví dítěte byly použity pro stanovení nadváhy a obezity. Faktory snižující míru výskytu nadměrné tělesné hmotnosti byly analyzovány pomocí binární logistické regresní analýzy. Výsledky: Děti s nadměrným sezením v nižší míře splňují doporučení pro spánek a pohybovou aktivitu a méně často společně snídají s rodiči než děti s kratší dobou denního sezení. Mezi výskytem nadměrné tělesné hmotnosti u 3–8letých dívek (19,2 %) a chlapců (18,7 %) nenacházíme statisticky významné odlišnosti, na rozdíl od rodičů, kde ve výskytu obezity (14,4 %OTCOVÉ a 9,5 %MATKY) i nadváhy (46,5 %OTCOVÉ a 20,1 %MATKY) otcové signifikantně (p < 0,05) převyšují matky. Výskyt obezity u rodičů významně (p < 0,05) zvyšuje šanci výskytu nadměrné tělesné hmotnosti u dětí, zatímco kratší doba sedavého chování dětí snižuje riziko výskytu jejich nadměrné tělesné hmotnosti. Závěry: Nadměrné sezení dítěte a obezita rodičů zvyšuje riziko jeho nadváhy a obezity, a to bez ohledu na socioekonomický status rodin nebo pohlaví dětí.
Objective: The main objective of the study is to use objective instruments to assess the 24-hour movement behaviour (i.e., sleep, sedentary behaviour and physical activity) of Czech families with 3–8-year-old children and to identify factors that reduce the risk of excess body weight in these children. Methods: The set consists of a representative sample of 425 families from urban and rural municipalities in the regions of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. All family members completed 7 days of 24-hour monitoring of movement behaviour using wrist-worn accelerometers. The anthropometric data along with potential weight-related factors were collected via questionnaire and a family completed by parents. Body mass index z-scores and categorization by World Health Organization percentile charts differentiated by age and gender of the child were used to determine overweight and obesity. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to analyse factors reducing the risk of prevalence of childhood excess body weight. Results: Children with excessive sitting were less likely to meet sleep and physical activity recommendations and were less likely to have breakfast with their parents than children with shorter daily sedentary time. There were no statistically significant differences between the prevalence of excess body weight in 3–8-year-old girls (19.2%) and boys (18.7%), contrary to parents, where fathers significantly (p < 0.05) outnumbered mothers in the prevalence of obesity (14.4%FATHER and 9.5%MOTHER) and overweight (46.5%FATHER and 20.1%MOTHER). The prevalence of obesity in parents significantly (p < 0.05) increased the risk of excess body weight in children, while shorter duration of sedentary behaviour significantly (p < 0.05) decreases the risk of excess body weight in children. Conclusions: A child’s excessive sitting and parental obesity increases their risk of being overweight and obese, regardless of the socioeconomic status of the families or the gender of the children.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY This study aims to describe and analyze the age differences in the 24-hour movement behavior patterns among a sample of adults and older adults with end-stage knee osteoarthritis referred for total knee arthroplasty (TKA). MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 86 patients referred for TKA were included in this study. Sleep duration, sedentary behavior (SB), light physical activity (LPA), and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) were assessed using multi-day 24-hour raw data from wrist-worn accelerometers. Compositional data analysis was used to analyze the differences between the age categories. RESULTS On average (SD), the adults were 59.0 (± 4.9) years; 63% female. The older adults were 72.4 (± 5.5) years; 58% female. The adults reached 23.9 milli-gravitational units (mg) as a mean acceleration over the whole day; 34% (8.1 h/day) of the time was classified as sleep, 48.9% (11.7 h/day) as SB, 12.1% (2.9 h/day) as LPA, and 5.1% (72.9 min/day) as MVPA. The older adults reached 21.3 mg; 35.2% (8.4 h/day) of the time was classified as sleep, 50.4% (12.1 h/day) as SB, 11.3% (2.7 h/day) as LPA, and 3.1% (44.9 min/day) as MVPA. Compared with the older adults, the proportion of time spent in total MVPA (P = 0.008) and MVPA bouts of ≥1 min were greater (P ≤ 0.028) in the adult group, while the proportion of time spent in total SB was lower (P = 0.045). No age difference was found for the proportion of time spent asleep. DISCUSSION Sleep, SB, and PA are exclusive and exhaustive parts of the overall 24-h day. Using accelerometer-based measures of 24-hour movement behavior to describe these behaviors more accurately is crucial for a better understanding of patients with end-stage KOA. CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest that the adults and older adults referred for TKA are physically active despite suffering from severe knee osteoarthritis. Such a high level of physical activity may be difficult to increase by TKA postoperatively. If replicated by other studies, 24-hour movement behaviors should be implemented among the examinations required before TKA. Key words: knee osteoarthritis, accelerometer, sedentary behaviour, physical activity, sleep, 24-hour lifestyle behaviour.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the most frequent one among chronicpulmonary diseases. It is a cause of death in 3 500 patients in the Czech Republic per year. One of the factors which possibly contribute to the worsening of the health status is a lack ofphysical activity (PA). Therefore, this article should aim to describe the impact of pulmonaryrehabilitation and the following telerehabilitation program on the level of PA in patients withCOPD. The PA level of this patient had not been sufficient before the rehabilitation program. She manifested predominantly sedentary behaviour. After the pulmonary rehabilitation pro-gram, she manifested an increased number of steps/day – 2 437 vs. 5 093. The increase wasmaintained during the two-month telerehabilitation program as well. The exercise toleranceand quality of life were higher after the pulmonary rehabilitation program and telerehabili-tation. The patient subjectively perceived benefits of this treatment mainly because of de-creased dependence on her husband’s help. This case study demonstrates the positive effectof the rehabilitation treatment and the following telerehabilitation on daily-life activities aswell as PA. We stress the suitability of pulmonary rehabilitation when the lack of PA is presentin a COPD patient. Moreover, telerehabilitation seems to improve the persistence of pul-monary rehabilitation benefits.

Strukturu sedavého chování jsme monitorovali pomocí akcelerometru a analyzovali jsme dílčí epizody sezení v rozsahu 1-9, 10-29 a ≥ 30 min.
This study aimed to describe sedentary behaviour in detail and assess its association with adiposity in older adult women. Data from 314 community-dwelling women (mean age 66.6 ± 6.5 years) from Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia were analyzed. Fat mass percentage was used as an indicator of adiposity, measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis. The patterns of sedentary behaviour were monitored using an accelerometer, and 1-9, 10-29 and ≥ 30 min. bouts were analyzed. We performed a multiple linear regression analysis to assess the association between variables. There was a significant association of fat mass percentage with time spent in bouts with a duration 10-29 min. (β = 0,03, p < 0,01) and the frequency of all analyzed bouts (β ranging –0,08 to 0,6; p < 0,05) which was independent of age, physical activity, demographic, socio-economic and health factors. Our results suggest that the sedentary behaviour patterns are significantly associated with adiposity. Reducing of sedentary time should be considered when planning a prevention programs or interventions.
