Čtyřiačtyřicetiletá pacientka s farmakorezistentní depresivní poruchou neodpověděla na 5 antidepresivních pokusů během 9měsíční léčby její 3. indexové epizody depresivní poruchy a komorbidní fibromyalgie. Jednorázová nitrožilní infuze ketaminu během hospitalizace přinesla rychlou antidepresivní odpověd, která přetrvala 2–3 měsíce, ale nebyla udržena novou antidepresivní léčbou. Toto schéma se opakovalo 9× v průběhu 3 let. V posledním roce je pacientka léčena ambulantně nitrožilním ketaminem každé 2 měsíce bez nutnosti hospitalizace.
A 44-year-old woman with drug-resistant depressive disorder failed to respond to 5 antidepressant trials during 9 months of treatment for her 3rd index episode of depressive disorder and comorbid fibromyalgia. A single intravenous infusion of ketamine during hospitalization induced rapid antidepressant response that subsequently persisted for 2–3 months, but did not sustain further on new antidepressant treatment. This scheme was repeated 9 times over the course of 3 years. In the last year, the patient has received intravenous ketamine every 2 months on an outpatient basis without the need for hospitalization.
