Letos je tomu právě deset let, co se v České republice používá metoda permanentní brachyterapie jako jedna z léčebných možností lokalizovaného karcinomu prostaty. U pacientů nízkého rizika rekurence má tato metoda excelentní výsledky a nízkou toxicitu. Mezi její výhody také patří rychlost provedení a rychlý návrat do běžného života, proto je čím dál více vyhledávána jak odesílajícími lékaři, tak pacienty. V tomto přehledu jsou uvedeny právě výhody metody, její aktuální indikace a přínos a jak se léčba změnila v průběhu deseti let.

This year, it has been ten years since the method of permanent brachytherapy was introduced in the Czech Republic as one of the treatment options for localized prostate cancer. In patients with a low risk of recurrence, the method has excellent results and low toxicity. Its further advantages include the speed of execution and rapid return to normal life; therefore, it is increasingly sought by both referring physicians and patients. The review article deals with the method’s advantages, its current indications and benefits, as well as with how the treatment has changed over the course of ten years.
