BACKGROUND: Pressure ulcers/pressure injuries (PUs/PIs) relate to decreasing quality of life, prolonged hospitalisation, the increased economic cost of care, and increased mortality. That's why this study focused on one of the mentioned factors - mortality. OBJECTIVES: The study analyses national data in the Czech Republic to map the mortality phenomenon comprehensively based on data from national health registries. METHOD: The retrospective, nationwide cross-sectional data analysis of data collected by the National Health Information System (NHIS) has been provided in the period 2010-2019 with a special focus on 2019. Hospitalisations with PUs/PIs were identified by reporting L89.0-L89.9 diagnosis as a primary or secondary hospitalisation diagnosis. We also included all the patients who died in the given year with an L89 diagnosis reported in 365 days prior the death. RESULTS: In 2019, 52.1% of patients with reported PUs/PIs were hospitalised, and 40.8% were treated on an outpatient basis. The most common underlying cause of death mortality diagnosis (43.7%) in these patients was the diseases of the circulatory system. Patients who die in a healthcare facility while hospitalised with an L89 diagnosis generally have a higher category of PUs/PIs than persons who die outside a healthcare facility. CONCLUSION: The proportion of patients dying in a health facility is directly proportional to the increasing PUs/PIs category. In 2019, 57% of patients with PUs/PIs died in a healthcare facility, and 19% died in the community. In 24% of patients who died in the healthcare facility, PUs/PIs were reported 365 days before the death.

Objectives: The aim of the theoretical studies was to briefly characterize the team and the teamwork in hospice care, its evaluation and also to present the selected measurement tool useful for the evaluation of the teamwork in hospice care. Background: The focus of the work was grounded in the validation studies of several authors (Gittell et al. 2000; Hoegl, Gemuenden 2001; Sorra, 2004; Alexander et al. 2005; Wageman et al., 2005; Sexton et al. 2006; Edmondson, 2007; Ryan, Cott, 2008), who dealt with the creation of measurement and evaluation tools for examining the efficiency, functionality and team culture of multidisciplinary teams in health care. Methods: The teamwork assessment measurement tools in health care published abroad and validated have been analyzed analytically and synthetically. The literary and electronic sources gathered through the research and the reviewed full-text online databases (EBSCO, SCOPUS, Web of Knowledge) formed the basis of the analysis. Results: The proposed measurement instrument of the team culture level at multidisciplinary hospice teams is Dimensions of Teamwork survey – DTEAM (Ryan, 2008; Ryan, Cott, 2008). DTEAM was created for the purposes of executing the regular team culture surveys as a part of the internal processes of the multidisciplinary teams in health services. Conclusion: In connection with the increasing demand for all types of teams working in the medical field, it is necessary to expand the knowledge basis for the particular issues of the team functioning in health care and the possibilities of the evaluation of its effectiveness or functionality. For implementing the selected measurement tool into national practice the profound national validation is necessary to be made, the process of which is currently under construction.
Cieľ práce: Cieľom teoretickej štúdie bolo stručne charakterizovať tím a tímovú prácu v zdravotníctve, jej hodnotenie a tiež prezentovať vybrané meracie nástroje použiteľné pre hodnotenie tímovej práce v zdravotníctve. Východiská práce: Ťažiskom práce boli validačné štúdie niekoľkých autorov (Kalisch, Weaver, Salas, 2009; Kalisch, Lee, Salas, 2010; Kalisch, Lee, Rochman, 2010, Shteynberg, Sexton, Th omas, 2005; Sexton, Helmreich, Neilands et al. 2006; Ryan, 2008, Ryan, Cott, 2008), ktorí sa zaoberali tvorbou meracích a hodnotiacich nástrojov pre skúmanie efektivity, funkčnosti a tímovej kultúry ošetrovateľských a/alebo multidisciplinárnych tímov v zdravotníctve. Použité metódy a spôsob analýzy: Analyticko-syntetickým prístupom boli analyzované v zahraničí publikované a validované meracie nástroje pre hodnotenie tímovej práce v zdravotníctve. Základ analýzy tvorili elektronické zdroje, ktoré boli získané pomocou rešerše v recenzovaných fulltextových online databázach (EBSCO, SCOPUS, Web of Knowledge).

Nasledujúci príspevok informuje o snahách Katedry ošetrovateľstva Lekárskej fakulty Masarykovej univerzity (KO LF MU) v Brne implementovať problematiku paliatívnej starostlivosti do vzdelávania sestier. Približuje konkrétny prípad, v ktorom bolo študentom bakalárskeho štúdia odboru Všeobecná sestra umožnené získať nové poznatky v oblasti paliatívnej starostlivosti v medzinárodnom kontexte. V Holandskom Haagu sa na workshope paliatívnej starostlivosti stretli učitelia a študenti štyroch európskych univerzít, kde ich hlavnou úlohou bolo vymeniť si doterajšie vedomosti a skúsenosti v oblasti klinického využitia paliatívnej starostlivosti, konkrétne eutanázie a paliatívnej sedácie.
