Exercise addiction is increasingly recognized as a possible threat to athletes' well-being, especially in elite sports. However, research on underlying personality predictors predisposing athletes to exercise addiction remains limited. This study hypothesized several key personality attributes including athletic identity, sport motivation, perfectionism, and neuroticism as possible risk factors of exercise addiction in elite athletes and examined relationships between these personality attributes and symptoms of exercise addiction in 168 Czech elite athletes aged from 18 to 30 years. Results showed that 16.5% of athletes exhibited signs of exercise addiction, while 76.7% were at risk with low symptom severity. Multiple linear regression indicated that neuroticism, introjected regulation, and athletic identity significantly predicted exercise addiction (F(3, 164) = 32.63, p < .001, R2 = .36). These findings underscore the importance of psychological factors in understanding exercise addiction among athletes. The high prevalence suggests discrepancies in diagnosing exercise addiction and inconsistent use of diagnostic tools, necessitating cautious interpretation of the results.

There are limited studies examining the impacts of perfectionism and achievement motivation on collegiate athletes' extra training and academic achievement in a Chinese context. This study aimed to examine the association of perfectionism (five facets) with extra training and academic performance among Chinese collegiate athletes and identify the mediating role of achievement motivation (two attributes) in the relationship between perfectionism and extra training and academic performance. With a prospective study design, 243 eligible participants completed two-wave surveys from September to December 2021. Measures included demographics, perfectionism (concern over mistake, CM; doubts about action, DA; personal standard, PS; organization; parental expectation, PE), achievement motivation (motive for success, MS; motive for avoiding failure, MF), extra-training (minutes/week), and academic performance (GPA). Results showed that CM, DA, PS, and MS were associated with extra training among Chinese collegiate athletes, while the associations of DA and PS with extra training were mediated by MS. In addition, DA, PS, organization, and MS were associated with participants' GPA, while MS was a salient mediator for the contributions of DA and PS on participants GPA. Research findings give new insights to the psychological mechanisms of perfectionism and achievement motivation on collegiate athletes' extra training and academic performance, contributing to future studies in relevant domains.

This study examined the influence of perfectionistic strivings and perfectionistic concerns on athlete burnout and two key indicators of overtraining syndrome (training distress and subjectively perceived sports performance) using cross-sectional (N = 228), short-term (a 3-month interval, N = 93) and long-term (a 1-year interval, N = 83) longitudinal designs on a sample of adolescent athletes. In the cross-sectional analyses, sequential regressions revealed that perfectionism was a significant predictor of athlete burnout and both indicators of overtraining. In the three-month longitudinal perspective, both dimensions of perfectionism (strivings and concerns) contributed to the prediction of change in burnout and sports performance, but not training distress. When the one-year longitudinal relationships were regarded, only perfectionistic strivings significantly predicted decrease in burnout, and, for sports performance, the predictive power of both dimensions of perfectionism was even more pronounced when compared to the three-month longitudinal data.

Introduction: Emotional attachment arises between the child and the primary caregiver in early childhood and fundamentally affects the child's self-esteem and their perception of the world as a safe place. The aim of this review is to present the current state of knowledge about the relationship between attachment and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), the course of the disorder and the effectiveness of the treatment. Method: A literature search was performed using PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect databases using key search terms. Scientific texts were extracted for the period from January 1990 to the end of March 2020. Results: An insecure attachment reduces a personal sense of self-worth and can lead to perfectionism and compulsive behavior, which becomes a means of trying to secure and stabilize the value of self-concept and control the surrounding events. Both characteristics are common in patients with OCD. Uncertain attachment is further associated with maladaptive cognitive processes (such as excessive sense of responsibility, perfectionism, and mind control), which are also associated with OCD. Of the two dimensions that define uncertain adulthood attachment (anxiety and avoidance), attachment anxiety is more closely related to OCD. No research has been described in the articles we found to prove a direct link between the attachment and the severity of OCD. Insecure emotional attachment and OCD is complicated by frequent comorbid depression. Conclusions: Anxious emotional attachment is common in patients with OCD and interconnects with basic OCD symptomatology. From this perspective, strategies that promote feelings of safety, acceptance, and appreciation within a therapeutic relationship may be important in the treatment of OCD.

The research study follows the study focused on the identification of significant predictors of non-ethical behavior in a goal directed behavior (Čopková, Matyiová, & Bartko, 2017). The aim of the current study was the analysis and significance verification of wider connections and relations of the probability of behavioral intention ́s to violate norm in order to attain academic goal. 154 Slovak university students have participated in the study (80,5 % women; Mage = 21,57; SD = 1,76). Using structural equations, the direct positive effect of personal normative belief, indirect negative effect of conscientiousness, the indirect positive effect of Machiavellianism, moral disengagement about cheating and self-licensing in goal attainment on a probability of behavioral intention ́s to violate norm in order to attain academic goal formation were identified.
