The development of pressure ulcers is one of the most frequent complications in the intensive care units. An important factor is the prevention of pressure ulcers as well as the ability to identify a risk level or a stagnation of pressure ulcers treatment. The paper presents results of two studies focused on the determination of a risk level and on the possibility to target the pressure ulcers prevention.

The article is based on retrospective study of incidence or worsening of pressure sores in patients at intensive care units. The overall health status, biochemical, hemodynamic, immunology and microbial parameters were monitored as well as preventive equipment and treatment measures.
