Nejčastější příčinou otoků dolních končetin u kardiologických nemocných je žilní hypertenze, a to jednak buď v důsledku chronického žilního onemocnění, či v důsledku pravostranného či bilaterálního srdečního selhání. Anamnéza, fyzikální vyšetření, a zejména echokardiografické vyšetření a duplexní sonografie žil dolních končetin jsou schopny odhalit dominantní příčinu vzniku otoků a následně ji i léčit. Venofarmaka, a zejména mikronizovaná purifikovaná flavonoidní frakce, mají prokázaný efekt na zmenšení otoků a zlepšení subjektivních obtíží nemocných se žilní hypertenzí
The most frequent cause of lower limb oedema in cardiac patients is venous hypertension, either due to chronic venous disease or as a result of right-sided or bilateral heart failure. Anamnesis and physical examination, especially echocardiography and duplex sonography of the veins of lower limbs, are able to reveal the dominant cause of oedema and subsequently treat it. Venopharmaceuticals, the micronized purified flavonoid fraction in particular, have a proven effect on oedema reduction as well as improving the subjective difficulties of patients with venous hypertension.
