There are several possible iatrogenic damages which can occur during root canal shaping and can lead to insufficient cleaning of root canal and subsequent failure of root canal treatment. The teeth undergoing root canal treatment are usually structurally compromised and further hard dental tissues removal during overhauling previous faults may lead to aggravated prognosis of teeth. Both proper X-ray diagnosis and adjusting root canal shaping to present anatomy are reducing possibility of iatrogenic damage. If such a damage occurs, the more conservative approaches should be attempted first.
NiTi rotační kořenové nástroje mají v současné době v endodontické terapii široké zastoupení. NiTi slitina má výjimečné vlastnosti, jakými jsou tvarová paměť a vysoká flexibilita. Dalším zpracováním NiTi slitiny se zvyšuje životnost nástrojů a snižuje se četnost nepříjemných komplikací v průběhu ošetření, zvláště zalomení nástroje v kanálku. Ošetření se tak stává rychlejším, efektivnějším a bezpečnějším. V naší studii jsme zjišťovali, zda technika zpracování NiTi slitiny má vliv na delší životnost nástroje.
NiTi rotary endodontic instruments are currently very popular in endodontic practice. NiTi alloy has exceptional characteristics such as shape memory and great flexibility. Further processing of NiTi alloy increase lifespan of the instruments and prevents complications during endodontic treatment, especially instrument separation inside the root canal. Treatment becomes faster and more efficient. In our study we examined whether technique of processing NiTi alloy has an effect on the longer lifespan of the instrument.

File breakage is a reality of life. If anyone says, he doesn't separate the tip of file in the canal, don't trust him. He doesn't do much endo. OK, file broke in the canal. What should we do? In this article author sumarises the factors, which are needed to be taken into the consideration, while trying to solve “separated file” case. In the first place anatomy of root canal, location of the fragment, vitality of the pulp, type of broken instrument. All these information show us the way we can follow. Of course, having adequate skills together with adequate tools, including magnification and ultrasonic.
