Colloidal clusters of magnetic iron oxide nanocrystals (MIONs), particularly in the condensed pattern (co-CNCs), have emerged as new superstructures to improve further the performance of MIONs in applications pertaining to magnetic manipulation (drug delivery) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Exploitation of the advantages they represent and their establishment in the area of nanomedicine demands a particular set of assets. The present work describes the development and evaluation of MION-based co-CNCs featuring for the first time such assets: High magnetization, as well as magnetic content and moment, high relaxivities (r2 = 400 and r2* = 905 s(-1) mMFe(-1)) and intrinsic loss power (2.3 nH m(2) kgFe(-1)) are combined with unprecedented colloidal stability and structural integrity, stealth and drug-loading properties. The reported nanoconstructs are endowed with additional important features such as cost-effective synthesis and storage, prolonged self-life and biocompatibility. It is finally showcased with in vivo multispectral optoacoustic tomography how these properties culminate in a system suitable for targeting breast cancer and for forceful in vivo manipulation with low magnetic field gradients.

Přehledové sdělení se věnuje diagnostickému zobrazení akutních aortálních syndromů s důrazem na multidetektorovou výpočetní tomografii a na její význam pro volbu léčby. Diskutovány jsou jednak techniky CT zobrazení včetně CT s EKG synchronizací a dále diagnostické nálezy u disekce aorty, intramurálního hematomu a penetrujícího vředu aorty. Literární data jsou konfrontována s vlastními zkušenostmi terciárního centra v populaci městského typu.
Review payes attention to the importace of the diagnostic imaging in acute aortic syndromes concerning to the multidetector-row computed tomography and its impact on treatment decisions. The several CT techniques including CT with ECG synchronized acquisitions are discussed as well as the diagnostic findings of aortic dissection, intramural hematoma and penetrating aortic ulcer. Bibliographic data are faced with the own experience of the tertiary centre with urban population.

Úvod: Tato práce prezentuje výsledky optimalizace rekonstrukčních parametrů, konkrétně počet iterací a počet subsetů OSEM algoritmu. Výsledky a závěr: S přihlédnutím k výpočetnímu času a opakované nestabilitě software byly jako nejlepší kombinace vyhodnoceny 4 iterace a 10 subsetů bez RR a 5 iterací a 10 subsetů s RR v matici 128 x 128, 3 iterace a 12 subsetů bez RR a 4 iterace a 12 subsetů s RR v matici 256 x 256.

Diverse isotopes such as 2H, 3He, 10Be, 11C and 14C occur in nuclear reactions in ion beam radiotherapy, in cosmic ray shielding, or are intentionally accelerated in dating techniques. However, only a few studies have specifically addressed the biological effects of diverse isotopes and were limited to energies of several MeV/u. A database of simulations with the PARTRAC biophysical tool is presented for H, He, Li, Be, B and C isotopes at energies from 0.5 GeV/u down to stopping. The doses deposited to a cell nucleus and also the yields per unit dose of single- and double-strand breaks and their clusters induced in cellular DNA are predicted to vary among diverse isotopes of the same element at energies < 1 MeV/u, especially for isotopes of H and He. The results may affect the risk estimates for astronauts in deep space missions or the models of biological effectiveness of ion beams and indicate that radiation protection in 14C or 10Be dating techniques may be based on knowledge gathered with 12C or 9Be.
