OBJECTIVE: This article describes the role of imagery in supervision which is a part of the work of both the supervisee and the supervisor. Imagination bears outstanding importance in psychotherapy and supervision. METHOD: The relevant texts for this narrative review were identified through the Web of Science and PubMed databases, within the period 1990-2019. The search terms included: Supervision, Cognitive behavioural therapy, Imagination, Imagery, Imagery rescripting, Therapeutic relationship, Supervisory relationship. The report also includes information from the books referred to by the articles. The supervisory experiences of the authors were also incorporated. The theoretical part is supplemented with case vignettes of strategies using imagination in CBT supervision. RESULTS: Working with imagery can be used in transformative experiential learning. It can help to better map the situation with the patient, including its emotional components and basic psychological needs, to realise how the therapeutic relationship is set up, as well as to rework own therapist attitudes, schemas and emotional - behavioural responses, and plan future steps in the therapy. Many therapy steps could be learned during imagery exercises. Imagery also helps to understand and regulate the supervisory relationship. CONCLUSION: It is useful to integrate imagery to the supervision. Using imagery can help to understand the patient, the therapeutic relationship better, and to plan optimal therapeutic strategies, as well as reflect/self-reflect and train difficult skills which promote professional and personal growth.
Imaging rescripting is one of the basic techniques of schematherapy. The basic steps of this technique are: identification a specific painful or traumatic memory, recognising the unmet needs associated with the situation, and meeting them through a "new story" that the patient imagines. During the individual or group therapy, the patient usually undergoes the rescripting sessions repeatedly and with different memories. That gradually increases patient´s introspection, self-control, and self-care. Various obstacles may arise during the implementation of this technique. The text deals with common factors on the part of the therapist and the patient and offers potential solutions to overcome them.

Abstract: Nightmares are dreamlike experiences filled with fear and anxiety. They accompany mankind from everlasting. The first mention of nightmares is already in the Bible. Nightmares may occur both in persons with mental illness as well as may be accompanied by a mental disorder. They are often associated with posttraumatic stress dissorder (PTSD). Themes of nightmares may be related to past events, when during nightmares reoccur memories on traumatic, unresolved or inadequately mastered event, or may be related to the future. After waking from nightmare is an individual fastly awake and able to react. Pacient remembers his dream both immediately after waking up, as well as in the morning. Topics of nightmares often repeat. Rarerly patients come to psychiatrist directly with complains of nightmares. More often they entrust with them during describing their sleep problems. They are classified into group of parasomnias. Nightmares may be also induced by variety of drugs. They may also occur in abrupt withdrawal of drugs that suppress REM phase of sleep. Generally, in case of nightmares related to past events, it is appropriate to return to these events during therapy or consider behavioral changes. In case of nightmares regarding to the future the therapy should focus on problem solving or assistance with concrete steps. The goal of the treatment is not just “improving sleep”. There are several possible therapeutic approaches useful in treatment of nightmares in PTSD. As for psychotropic drugs, prazosin was assessed, with a positive effect on sleep architecture. As for psychotherapeutical approaches, clinical effect was observed in the cognitive-behavioral therapy focused on nightmares (imagery rehearsal therapy – IRT).

Mandala is a regular circular shape that facilitates relaxation and helps us to make contact with ourselves. This approach has been brought to psychotherapy by C. G. Jung. Later mandala was adapted by art therapy. This gave us more options for working with mandalas and helped to spread mandalas as a tool for self-discovery all around the world. Our goal is to provide a basic overview of mandala possibilities in psychotherapy and to show how to combine mandala with other therapeutic approaches.

V druhé části nabízí nové možnosti psychoterapie u pacientů s PNES a pacientů s kombinací ES a PNES.
In the first part the overview article is focused on the differential diagnostics of epileptic (ES) and non-epileptic (NES), mostly psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES). It emphasizes the difficulties which can occur as a result of disunited interdisciplinary terminology. In the second part the article offers new possibilities of psychotherapy in patients with PNES and patients with combined EP and PNES. At the end of the article there is a case report of a female patient with the diagnosis of combined EP and PNES seizures; the patient has been treated both antiepileptic medication and psychotherapy. Specifically, katathym imaginative psychotherapy (KIP; also known as guided affective imagery, GAI) has been used. The article shows the necessity of interdisciplinary cooperation of a neurologist, psychiatrist, and clinical psychologist. psychotherapy.

The study focuses on context, which enables the understanding of Jung´s Red book (Liber Novus). This book is understood as a document about Jung´s own active imagination. The active imagination is process mediating between conscious, intentional activity of ego on the one side and spontaneous, autonomous activity of unconsciousness on the other. The study focuses on some basic aspects of active imagination and their realization in the Red Book.
