A rare case of vehicle-assisted suicide in a 40-year-old man is presented. The victim had tied a rope between his neck and a tree and then attempted to drive the vehicle away while seated in the driver's seat.The acceleration of the vehicle resulted in complete decapitation. Injuries to the organs of the man's neck bore vital signs. This, together with blood aspiration into his airways, confirmed that the victim's injuries took place when vital functions of his organism were still preserved. The degree of cervical trauma found in this case was far greater than that in characteristic ligature strangulation or hanging, except in cases where the body has fallen some distance.

Rozebíráno úmrtí 35 osob pitvaných v Ústavu soudního lékařství v Hradci Králové za období let 1980 -1990, které zemřely ve východočeských vězeňských ústavech, se zaměřením na příčiny, ale i na okolnosti úmrtí. Kromě aterosklerotických onemocnění a úrazů je věnovaná pozornost sebevraždám i možným vraždám. Specifickou problematiku tvoří úmrtí po dlouhodobém hladovění.
The authors analyzed the death of 35 subject where autopsies were made in the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Hradec Králové during 1980-1990 who died in prisons in the eastern Bohemian region. Attention was focused on the causes and circumstances of death. In addition to atherosclerosis and injuries attention is paid to suicide and possible murder. A special problem are deaths after long-term fasts.
Z rozboru poranění vyplývá jasně, že i útok neozbrojeného pachatele proti hlavě poškozeného je velmi nebezpečný a může způsobit širokou škálu poranění od nezávažných až po velmi těžká s dlouhodobou pracovní neschopností. Z poranění nelze rovněž usuzovat kolika údery vzniklo, protože i po jediném úderu mohou vzniknout těžká a komplikovaná poranění. Nelze rovněž podle stupně poranění rozhodnout jednoznačně, zda bylo poranění způsobeno pěstí, otevřenou rukou či nohou, případně kombinací. U 2 osob souboru nastaly trvalé následky (1 poranění oka, 1 zohyžďující jizva víčka oka).
From an analysis of injuries ensues clearly that even an attack by an unarmed aggressor aimed at the head of the victim is very dangerous and can cause a wide range of injuries from trivial to very serious ones leading to prolonged work incapacity. It is not possible to conclude from the injuries by how many blows it was caused because even after a single injury severe and complicated injuries may develop. From the injury it is not possible to assess unequivocally whether the injury was proceduced by a fist, open hand or foot or a combination of the two. In two subjects of the group permanent sequelae developed (one injury of the eye, 1 disfiguring scar of the eyelid).
