We redescribe Neobelba pseudopapillipes Bulanova-Zachvatkina, 1967, single known species of Neobelba Bulanova-Zachvatkina, 1967, based on the material collected in Russia and Slovakia. The species shares many important characters of Metabelba Grandjean, 1936, particularly of the subgenus M. (Pateribelba) Mourek, Miko et Bernini, 2011. It can be easily distinguished by presence of companion seta d, coupled with solenidion on tibia IV. As the original material of Bulanova-Zachvatkina was lost, neotype and 14 paraneotypes from Voronezh region, Russia are newly designated. Based on the neotype redescription, Neobelba was re-defined and the new status was proposed. Synonymy with Metabelba s. str. as proposed by Subías (2013) is rejected, and Neobelba is considered to be a separate subgenus of Metabelba, as earlier proposed by Subías (2004). Present distribution of Metabelba (Neobelba) pseudopapillipes (Bulanova-Zachvatkina, 1967) and known ecological data on the species are provided.

Adamaeus Norton, 1978 and Paradamaeus Bulanova-Zachvatkina, 1957, two subgenera of genus Damaeus C. L. Koch, 1835, are reviewed on the basis of the redescription of their type species. Subgenus Eudamaeus Pérez-Iñigo, 1987 and genus Tectodamaeus Aoki, 1984 are reviewed and their relation to Damaeus is discussed. Damaeus firmus Kunst, 1957 is redescribed and placed into the nominate subgenus. Damaeus helveticus (Schweizer, 1956) n.comb. is redescribed and placed into the nominate subgenus, its synonymy with Damaeus (Adamaeus) onustus C.L.Koch, 1844 is rejected. Damaeus alpinus (Schweizer, 1956) n.comb. is redescribed and placed into the nominate subgenus. Lectotypes and paralectotypes of Damaeus firmus Kunst, 1957; Damaeus helveticus (Schweizer, 1956) and Damaeus alpinus (Schweizer, 1956) are indicated. Based on published reviews and redescriptions, new diagnoses for Tectodamaeus Aoki, 1984, Damaeus C. L. Koch, 1835 and its subgenera are proposed, and a list of all known European species of Damaeus C. L. Koch, 1835 is provided. Tectodamaeus longus Xie & Yang, 2009 is newly combined to Damaeus as D. longus (Xie & Yang, 2009) n.comb.

INTRODUCTION: Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) frequently harbors the BRAF V600E mutation. Recent research suggests that aggressive behavior in BRAF V600E+ PTC may be due to an undetected mutation in the TERT gene. This study aims to observe the clinicopathological features of BRAF V600+ PTC and correlate them with surgical treatment complications. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the BRAF V600E+ PTC cohort from July 2019 to January 2023. The histopathological features and surgical treatment (total thyroidectomy - group A, total thyroidectomy + central block neck dissection - group B) complications were correlated. Patients with TERT and TP53 mutation were excluded. Next-generation sequencing and real-time PCR were used for genetic analysis. RESULTS: Out of 121 PTCs, 65 cases showed BRAF V600E mutation with the following features: intracapsular spread (13.8%), extracapsular spread (27.7%), extrathyroidal spread (15.4%), multifocality (26.2%), angioinvasion (12.3%), and local metastasis (27.7%). The incidence of surgical complications in group A/B was: reversible recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) paresis 3.7/7.1%, RLN paresis permanent 0/2.4%, paresthesia 6.8/23.8%, hypocalcemia 36.4/61.9% on day 1 and 27.3/33.3% on day 3, and bleeding 2.3/9.5%. There was no significant difference in clinicopathological features between the BRAF V600E+ and BRAF V600E- PTC groups. Group B had a significantly higher incidence of hypoacalcaemia on postoperative day 1 (p = 0.047). CONCLUSION: The BRAF V600E mutation will certainly remain important in the preoperative diagnosis of PTC. The more radical surgical procedures currently recommended may be abandoned in the future, particularly elective CLND, which has a higher risk of postoperative complications.

Biological effects of high-LET (linear energy transfer) radiation have received increasing attention, particularly in the context of more efficient radiotherapy and space exploration. Efficient cell killing by high-LET radiation depends on the physical ability of accelerated particles to generate complex DNA damage, which is largely mediated by LET. However, the characteristics of DNA damage and repair upon exposure to different particles with similar LET parameters remain unexplored. We employed high-resolution confocal microscopy to examine phosphorylated histone H2AX (gammaH2AX)/p53-binding protein 1 (53BP1) focus streaks at the microscale level, focusing on the complexity, spatiotemporal behaviour and repair of DNA double-strand breaks generated by boron and neon ions accelerated at similar LET values (~135 keV mum

RATIONALE: Disruption of auditory event-related evoked potentials (ERPs) P300 and mismatch negativity (MMN), electrophysiological markers of attentive and pre-attentive cognitive processing, is repeatedly described in psychosis and schizophrenia. Similar findings were observed in a glutamatergic model of psychosis, but the role of serotonergic 5-HT2A receptors in information processing is less clear. OBJECTIVES: We studied ERPs in a serotonergic model of psychosis, induced by psilocybin, a psychedelic with 5-HT2A/C agonistic properties, in healthy volunteers. METHODS: Twenty subjects (10M/10F) were given 0.26 mg/kg of psilocybin orally in a placebo-controlled, double-blind, cross-over design. ERPs (P300, MMN) were registered during the peak of intoxication. Correlations between measured electrophysiological variables and psilocin serum levels and neuropsychological effects were also analyzed. RESULTS: Psilocybin induced robust psychedelic effects and psychotic-like symptoms, decreased P300 amplitude (p = 0.009) but did not affect the MMN. Psilocybin's disruptive effect on P300 correlated with the intensity of the psychedelic state, which was dependent on the psilocin serum levels. We also observed a decrease in N100 amplitude (p = 0.039) in the P300 paradigm and a negative correlation between P300 and MMN amplitude (p = 0.014). CONCLUSIONS: Even though pre-attentive cognition (MMN) was not affected, processing at the early perceptual level (N100) and in higher-order cognition (P300) was significantly disrupted by psilocybin. Our results have implications for the role of 5-HT2A receptors in altered information processing in psychosis and schizophrenia.
