Introduction: A correctly compiled and balanced curriculum across medical fields is an essential prerequisite for medical education. Just as in other fields, it is vividly evident in medicine that the overall structure and lesson content are not ideal and it is quite common for the overlap between theoretical and clinical subjects to be either too extensive or, on the contrary, rather insufficient. The issue of curriculum innovation has been addressed in many medical and health care fields by different academic institutions, as proclaimed in the analysis of the current global situation. The need for a computer-aided management system providing a transparent overview of the curriculum at specific faculties has been duly emphasized. Aim: An original methodology for managing the changes during optimization of the medical curriculum in tertiary education is introduced in the paper, together with its conceptual data model. Methods: According to the conclusions of the Bologna Process, which promotes outcome-based education, the theoretical basis is oriented to the new paradigm of teaching and learning. Results: We introduce the all-in-one web-oriented platform covering all elements linked to global curriculum management and providing sufficient information for the curriculum designers. Conclusion: A new powerful and robust system for the management, visualization and analysis of curriculum should pinpoint specific learning imperfections and potential overlaps across the chosen field of study. It brings useful and beneficial information for students, teachers as well as the faculty management.

Oblast nekomerčních klinických studií zaznamenává v posledních letech významný vzestup hlavně v kontextu precision medicine a individualizované léčby.
The field of non-commercial clinical trials has experienced significant expansion in recent years, especially in the context of precision medicine and individualized treatment. Indeed, non-commercial trials provide a venue for research on questions relevant to clinical practice and offer the opportunity to use innovative clinical trial designs. At the same time, however, non-commercial clinical trials place greater demands on principal investigators and their team members as they extend their position in the study to include the coordination and management role of the sponsor. On the other hand, training in the organization and theory of clinical trials at medical and pharmaceutical faculties in the Czech Republic is limited. It is typically included in pharmacology as part of an introduction to the overall process of drug research and development. At the postgraduate level, only some faculties offer comprehensive courses on the organization and interpretation of clinical trials. The ERASMUS+ CONSCIOUS and ERASMUS+ CONSCIOUS II projects can thus help to fill the gap in education in this area, offering a comprehensive, free-of-charge collection of lessons for undergraduate and postgraduate biomedical students, and an open pilot course of twelve on-line lessons with international participation is also planned.

The cultivation of social adaptability is an important part of education for children with mental retardation. The curriculum of adaptive functional education is guided by the relevant theories of social adaptation, it is an extremely important part of the curriculum of education for children with mental retardation, its basic idea and operation flow are suitable for curriculum development in a wide range of fields. Taking a specific case as the basic starting point, this paper introduces a common method of developing this kind of curriculum for special educators in mainland China. The specific steps include the definition of curriculum concept and scope; the formation, analysis and evaluation of the curriculum objectives; the formulation of teaching objectives; the design of relevant teaching materials and supporting schemes, and so on.

This paper presents a general curriculum quality framework that has been developed on the basis of research in the Czech Republic and internationally. The cogency of this framework and its relevance to the Czech PE curriculum is demonstrated by reference to curriculum research. Finally its potential as a quality assessment tool for the review of the Czech Physical Education curriculum is discussed.

The objective of the study was the construction of a generic curriculum development model for the use of biomedical physics (BMP) educators teaching the non-physics healthcare professions (HCP) in Europe. A comprehensive, qualitative cross-sectional Europe-wide survey of the curricula delivered by BMP in Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) was carried out. Curricular content was collected from faculty web-sites, curricular documents and textbooks. The survey data was supplemented with semi-structured interviews and direct observation during onsite visits. The number of faculties studied was 118 from 67 universities spread all over Europe, whilst the number of onsite visits/interviews was 15 (geographically distributed as follows: Eastern Europe 6, North Western Europe 5, and South Western Europe 4). EU legislation, recommendations by European national medical councils, educational benchmark statements by higher education quality assurance agencies, research journals concerning HCP education and other documents relevant to standards in clinical practice and undergraduate education were also analyzed. Best practices and BMP learning outcomes were elicited from the curricular materials, interviews and documentation and these were subsequently used to construct the curriculum development model. A structured, comprehensive BMP learning outcomes inventory was designed in the format required by the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). The structures of the inventory and curriculum development model make them ideally suited for use by BMP involved in European curriculum development initiatives for the HCP.
