Weber-Christian disease is a rare disease from the group of chronic fibrosing conditions characterized by inflammation of the adipose tissue - panniculitis and fibrosing with frequent systemic manifestations. Etiopathogenesis of the disease is not fully known, participation of autoimmune mechanisms is anticipated. Here, we report a case of a patient with this rare disease, diagnosed after a long and demanding diagnostic process, including repeated laparotomies. However, after immunosuppressive therapy, clinical and laboratory symptomatology improved rapidly as well as the patient‘s quality of life.

A case of suppurative nodular panniculitis associated with ulcerative colitis and enteropathic arthritis was described. The authors consider the disease as an equivalent to pyoderma gangraenosum, eiythema nodosum, or nodular vasculitis, which all often accompany the inflammatory bowel diseases. They draw attention to the successful therapeutic usage of potassium iodide, given orally to the patient as saturated solution in the long-term daily dose of 400 mg. This substance proved to be efficient in the situation when antibiotics were not able to stop the secretion made up by dissolved fat tissue and to reduce the inflammatory skin process.
